Game Thread | Game #1 | Cavs @ Nets | Oct. 25, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Strus - A+
Okoro - A

Mitchell - A- (only thanks to last 2 minutes, but he stepped up when it mattered most)

Niang - F

LeVert - 0% didn't even remember to write his name on page

Everyone else - D

Name me a time when Okoro was ever struggling for minutes.

My man he started most of last season in place of LeVert. You’re calling me delusional for pointing that out?

Based on what I saw from the reserves tonight, I don’t see how they can’t both get minutes. You think the three guys who didn’t see the floor in the second half are magically going to play over him? Here’s the minute breakdown tonight:

Strus - 39
Okoro - 31
Mobley - 33
Mitchell - 35
Garland - 32
LeVert - 31
Jerome - 5
Niang - 20
Jones - 11

Looking at that, how are you struggling to see where simply adding Allen to the mix fits in? Neither Okoro nor LeVert should play 31 minutes per night. Strus sure as hell isn’t going to play 39 a night. Given what we’ve seen so far, if JB is reluctant to use Jones as a 2nd big, I don’t think he’ll give him any minutes as a 3rd if he doesn’t have to.
Lol at JBB playing Strus 39 minutes in Game 1. He'll be injured before January. Also, Garland playing 32 minutes on a bum hamstring ain't great either.

say it louder. Nets were getting away with murder because Evan couldn't freelance on defense
Saw the same thing. He and Allen are a special pairing defensively. You hope Strus adds just enough spacing to make the starting 5 work on offense.

Strus also looks like he will offer much needed rebounding from the small forward position. I think there’s a lot of potential for that 5 man group to be dominant in the regular season.

Let Strus game be a lesson: Our guards and small wings actually are allowed to rebound the ball.

I swear I'd think 2x more highly of Garland if he'd not forget to box out every other defensive possession and grab a few more boards a night.

He didn't get scared. After two of the blocks, he drove right at Claxton's chest and scored on his ass.

The touches evaporated. Mobley was getting the ball often in the first half and a few times in the beginning of the third quarter, but he wasn't getting much after that.

Whoaaaa there bud. You quoted the wrong poster name. I would never slander Mobley like that.

In tonight’s game I don’t think he had much choice. Strus was on fire and the Cavs didn’t have quality depth behind him.

If he had sat more and the Cavs had lost JB would get all the hate for taking him out. The hive mind has decided he isn’t good enough so now he can do no right.

Good to see Okoro with 6 boards. That’s been a chronic weakness with him. Hope he keeps it up.

My bad! :chuckle:

Will add though:
Evan was indecisive between a shot and a pass in some of his attempts. That allowed Claxton to measure a jumper swat

Our guards have been allergic to boxing out since Eric Snow. It was a key reason we lost in 15 and definetly hurt in 17.

You wouldn't think 2X as much of Garland if he was in street clothes 2X as often after getting hurt trying to box out guys who have 60lbs and 6 inches on him.

Trade him.
He and Wade will be the odd men out. You can add Rubio to the list if he decides he's done. IMO Levert was always signed with the intention of being traded when permitted.
