USA Today had a list of 20 best Christmas movies

The movie that has me curious in the list is The Holdovers, which they ranked at 8. It's a new movie in theaters and also out in the expensive tier of rent/buy. I was surprised to see a brand new movie so high on their list.

Has anyone see it?

Kiss kiss bang bang, best Shane Black Christmas film?

Saltburn was a good movie. It's definitely very weird and no sorts of kid friendly. I thought it was weird to have the movie in 4:3 aspect ratio but with how odd this movie is, it just makes sense.

There are two things it definitely takes from but if I say it, I think it basically ruins the movie.

I was going to watch that this year but couldn't find it streaming anywhere. I don't think I've ever seen it. There were a few others we had the same issue with.

I probably make it more complicated than I should.

- instead of renting I buy the movies it it isn't streaming and it's something I think I'll watch again. Or that someone else in the family will watch. It seems like a waste of money to rent it one time then buy it another time.

- many times I've bought a movie I'll never watch again because it wasn't as good as it looked like it'd be.

I solve this by trying to stream them first. If it's a movie I want to watch that I've seen before I'll buy it. If I haven't seen it before I try to wait until it's streaming, which sometimes gets annoying.

I wish they'd update it so that if you rent it, you can upgrade to buying it within the rental period.

Honestly id just torrent the thing

+1 on watching Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Robert Downey Jr plays his role perfectly, but Val Kilmer steals the show

Yes, it was an excellent film. Wasn’t expecting too much but the three lead actors (not just Giamatti) were all great and the underlying message was good but not preachy.

The Talented Mr Ripley certainly has to be one

What’s the other that comes to mind? Saltburn was worth the watch for sure… just narrowly missed the mark with a few decisions that stopped it from going from a “good” film to a “great” one. Beautifully shot… the cinematography was stunning even with the 4:3 which ended up not bothering me.

I didn't know wonka was like a kids movie so I got pretty high and saw it. I'm not the demo but it would be a great movie for kids/family, esp on Xmas.

85/100

Halfway through saltburn. Gives me "rules of attraction" vibes. A movie that mtv would promote at the turn of the millennium. Don't know that I love it

I really enjoyed Wonka - took my kids to it. Not into musicals, but I thought it did the original wonka movie justice. A little less dark, but nicely fantastical. This contrasts with the Johnny Depp remake, which I thought was pretty bad.
