2023-24 Season | Game #60 | Knicks @ Cavs | March 3, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Um, yeah. lol. Is he an all-star yet? Those are role players. haha.

Being a role player, doesn't mean suck. No, he's not a star player. And no one that's not a Cav fan, would think so.
Your definition of a role player is quite different than mine. To me, LeVert is a role player. But whatever.

The Mitchell trade was NOT a total disaster. The Cavs are 34-16 with him, 5-5 without him. We're a 56-win team with him on the floor and 41-41 without him.

Mitchell makes the others better. His gravitational pull creates open shots for his teammates. Among NBA players with over 1,000 minutes he ranks sixth in +/- at +12.8. That number is over twice as much as the next highest Cavalier.

Let's see what this team can do with a healthy Mitchell and LeVert now that Garland and Mobley are back and playing near the top of their games. At the very least they'll be a team that routinely beats the bad and mediocre teams. They probably won't win a playoff series, but I'm enjoying watching a 50-win team. I've seen a lot worse.
I agree although I wasnt on board with it because I didnt think we were ready 4 a move like that. Thats a push all ur chips in move. But its giving our younger players some playoff exp. That is if we can get out of the 1st round. But I dont view it as disastrous. At least not yet

Funny, thing is I'm not really down on the team. I'm just not that high on them. I don't think we suck, I think we can make the playoffs, and even win a series.

But my excitement of what we can be is gone, because we aren't going anywhere. Not now, not going forward.

I don't see it at all. And I don't see anything that can be done about it either. It's just the way it is, plenty of other teams are in the same boat.

That's the NBA. Very few teams, are in it. And few teams going forward have a chance to be in it. We are one of many that aren't.

I am very disappointed in Garland. I think he's been a huge disappointment, and I'd just look to cut ties with him.

Rewatched the second half. I love Okoro and want him to keep shooting, but that stretch where he missed 5 straight 3s and Divencenzo hit 3 straight, sunk the game right then and there. They were all good looks buts a make or miss league

If this is Garland and Mobley "near the top of their games" we are fucked in the post-season again.

They both need to be substantially better to make any noise

Agreed. They have a higher level of consistency and situational awareness to achieve. Mickey absolutely has to improve his 3P shot year after year.

But neither are even in their early prime yet 22 and 24. Unless our organization trades one or both, our highest ceiling is in the overlap of their age 25-30 seasons imo. So 2-3 years from now. We can certainly want and expect to improve between then and now, but we’re not an ECF or NBA finals contender until they’re more seasoned. Just is what it is.

That’s both an excuse and a truth

What is totally wild is the game had this for FT:

Cleveland 3-8 completely fucking pathetic
New York 7-10

Did these officials call anything? 18 total FT's lol

Honestly, the Mitchell trade can still be salvaged if he extends. If he does, Garland and Mobley are squarely on the block.

The team you saw with him as lead guard, playing like the best PG in the league...that team can exist again.

I liked half of your post, so I will highlight what I liked.

not sure what to make of that one, high assists, high volume 3's, didnt get crushed on o boards... still scored under 100 and loss to knicks backups
Slow pace kept score down. Then we just got out-shot. They beat us by 4 at the FT line and by 5 pts from the field despite us getting up 1 more shot attempt. We didn’t really shoot all that poorly, but we can’t allow that version of the Knicks or shoot 41% from 3. But to give them credit, they hit some really tough shots. Our biggest mistake was letting the game be played at their pace. Just like what we saw against the Bulls, we are not built for these kinds of rock fights. We have to impose our will on them

Garland doesn't need to be a leader - Mitchell is the leader. Garland just needs to play smart basketball, make his open 3's, avoid excessive turnovers, and dish out assists when he doesn't have the shot.

He's now 20-for-34 on 3's in his last three games with 8 turnovers in 120 minutes. He's playing very well except for the layup attempts that keep getting swatted. He's 4-for-23 on 2-point attempts in those three games. Once he cleans that up he'll be a very good offensive player. He's getting swallowed up in the paint.

The Cavs allowed 107 points tonight which usually results in a win. The problem was offense; they scored just 98. Strus was off, Wade and Niang went a combined 0-for-10, and the Cavs were 3-for-8 on free throws. Add in no points from Mitchell and LeVert and the Cavs just didn't have the firepower. Merrill kept the game from being a blowout.

The refs weren't calling anything as the Cavs had 8 free throws and the Knicks had 10. It favors the Knicks when the refs are letting everything go.
I'm not saying that we need to have more self-creators (we have enough when healthy)

But the pressure of only having one (or less) on the court through most of this game was the worst thing about it.

Again: Team shooting + distrust of Niang minutes. My biggest issues with the team. Individual struggles will be noted.

I noticed that too they were letting them play.

Strus, Wade and Niang combined for 6 points, -16, 2-14 from three and five rebounds in 65 minutes... If there's a place to point to where lack of production hurt, this is where it stands out most...
