You're looking at this too deep, my guy..
It was about getting through the day without sustaining any long-term injuries that could hamper playoff success given they had a top-4 seed locked up..
The only thing a 2-seed gets them over a 4-seed at this point is potentially avoiding Boston in the 2nd round.. However, if you can't get the 1st round it doesn't matter, and I really have no interest in JBB going up against Spo or the Cavs facing Embiid in the 1st round..
I'd rather play the Heat or Sixers. If we lose in the first round...then changes get made. If we win, then we get to the second round with home court and a shot at the ECF. And if we make it there, then JBB deserves to stay.
A series win over a weaker first round opponent before facing the best team in the east...just a much murkier result.
That being said, I think the plan was to win this game. CPJ getting hurt ended that.
