Like someone said, he's injured like every game. Guy is going to break down, and soon. Why would he be our top target...
Injured every game.. Yet he's been healthy enough to play 79 games in 07-08, 81 in 08-09, and so far 37 this season. So when he is expected to "break down"? Yeah he has his bumps and bruises, but like I mentioned before he's a fighter. If we got Jamison, him being hurt is the last concern on my mind to be honest. He is older, but I don't expect him to all of suddenly get injured and be sidelined for a long period of time if we got him.
He had an off game against the Celtics, but then again the Celtics still have a pretty good defense. Tough to base a player off one game, too.. Because a week ago Jamison was dropping big numbers and people were getting all excited. Now that Iggy has been listed as a possible target(which in my opinion Ferry will need to get very creative to make it happen), people are just tossing Jamison to the side like he's not even a good fit for this team anymore.
I want Iggy over all the targets as much as the next guy, but I'd be very pleased if the team ended up with Jamison as a backup plan.
Last few weeks this guy has left a few games with injuries...on top of that he has a history of injuries and is very old. Sound like a dude you wanna bank on? Sounds like you'd take your chances. Fine. I wouldnt though.
Seems like a Jamison I've seen before.. Dealt with injuries that forced him to leave games, but he ended up coming right back. He's got a lot of heart, it's pretty unfortunate he's stuck on a Wizards team that is going straight down.
I'm struggling to see the risk on adding Jamison.. If we do deal for him, Ferry will get what he wants. Its not like we'd be losing Hickson or another young talent, we'd most likely be losing Z's big expiring and maybe a draft pick. I'd gladly accept it if the offer was on the table, unless Ferry is still believing he can work something out with Philly for Iggy.
Guess we agree to disagree on Jamison, but if he does become a Cavalier it will be interested to see how many people change their avatars, sigs, and comments..
I agree they need to wait out to see what Philly will do with Iggy, which is why there is about 2-3 weeks left of this rumor/craziness to come. Sadly, the people around here are still not use to the trade deadline and prepared for it. Always jumping onto what ever rumor hits the site, switching their avatars and Sigs.. Kinda funny, actually.I like Jamison, but what he gets you on offense he's liable to give up on defense, he'd be a good pickup but all Iguodala avenues have to be exhausted before the team moves onto Jamison.
Jamison has had stretches before where he got hurt in a couple of games in a row, but he's manged to be fine. I trust he knows how much his body can take before he has to know he has to take it a little lighter, or ask the coaching staff to limit his minutes. Also, the fact he has been getting injured (though minor) so frequently has to be a cause for concern, lets not forget he dislocated his shooting shoulder and he could re-injure that at any point. There are risks to getting Jamison, he's like a high horse powered sports car that is starting to blow oil out the tailpipe, you're just hoping it can hold on just a few more runs before the motor finally lets go.
• It’s been well documented that the Cavaliers’ infatuation with Antawn Jamison has been rekindled. What’s been underplayed is the reason behind it: LeBron James is the one driving the team’s pursuit of Jamison, according to a source, and Cavs GM Danny Ferry – as usual – is trying to appease the King. A couple of problems: The Wizards want a young asset in return, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas – while a fit salary-wise – doesn’t fit that description. The sensible piece to include in the deal would be J.J. Hickson, whom the Cavs are reluctant to give up. But if the Cavs got Jamison, what value would Hickson be to them as their fifth big man? One scenario that is believed to be under discussion would have the Cavs hoping the Wizards bought out Ilgauskas after the trade, using some cash added to the deal by Cleveland. That way, the Cavs could sign Ilgauskas back on a minimum deal, giving them the player James covets (Jamison) and a 7-foot-4 insurance policy for Shaquille O’Neal. The Wizards would have to ask themselves if getting out from under Jamison’s contract and adding Hickson is enough to justify a deal that would get them under the tax next summer, but not under the cap.

just say no to giving up anything worthwhile for jamison. dealing with the wiz is always treacherous and they might hold z hostage or some other dirt bag move. plus, aj has been showing his age lately and as we know cannot play d. much rather iguodala, if anyone.
Pretty sure you can throw in buyout stipulations in the trade agreement.
