Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Unless you’re considering that a bullpen game, I’d be shocked if Kluber starts another game for us this year.

I was thinking some kind of Kluber/Cookie hybrid combo to get us through 5 innings and hope that the bullpen could bail out the rest of it.

Personally I'd lean towards Clevinger, simply because he has playoff experience whereas Bieber does not. But I'd have full confidence in Bieber.

Regardless, I think that Wild Card starter would pitch again for Game 3. They'd be on full rest, so no reason not to get the pitcher you have the most confidence in getting back out there as soon as he's ready.

10/12 to 10/17 isn’t full rest though. Unless I’m misreading the schedule you posted that would be the WC to game 3 gap.

If 5 is considered full rest, then sure, but they've been pitching on 4 days rest more often than 5 days.

-Pitch WC on 10/2
-4 days rest (10/3, 10/4, 10/5, 10/6)
-Pitch ALDS Game 3 on 10/7

Looking back at the 14 starting pitchers in Wild Card history, 9 of them pitched in Game 3 after 4 full days of rest

Exceptions:
2012- STL- Lohse- 5 days rest, Game 4 NLDS
2012- BAL- Saunders- 5 days rest, Game 4 ALDS
2016- TOR- Stroman- 12 days rest, Game 3 ALCS
2017- NYY- Severino- 5 days rest, Game 4 ALDS
2018- COL- Kyle Freeland- Rockies were swept in NLDS, didn't pitch again

Mercado or Greg Allen? Who’s gonna be our main CF’er the rest of the season?

Clearly he’s being groomed to be a bullpen weapon. Could give them an inning, could give them three innings.

That flexibility is gonna be huge down the stretch and in the playoffs.

If he's throwing 25 pitches now, he might be able to give us 5 or so innings by October.

In our 7 games in NY, we scored 39 and gave up 33 runs. That's a Pythag% of .583 which equates to a 94.4 win pace over a full season.

Sigh.
