2022 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For the uninformed, but how does the Buckeyes play every game at home? 8 at home, 4 on road, I can't remember it being that lopsided.

And Florida's decision to go for 2 down 11 has 100% come back to bite them in the ass.

They then had to go for 2 again to make up for it and failed. Now they've got the onside kick.

With two extra points they'd be down 3 and not 5 with 25 seconds to go.

They play all out of conference games at home. 8 conference games - 4 home and 4 away.

Take a moment with me to realize why Miami is where it is. I also didn’t realize MTSU is now 3-0 against Miami.

I watched the highlights of this game and was literally laughing out loud. Miami is a complete dumpster fire. It's hilarious.

With Baylor and Oklahoma already with a loss, and Texas with 2, b12 is down to Okie St or bust, I think.

Pac12 N has Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wazzu. USC is gonna face a good team in the Pac12 title game.

Minnesota is underrated in the new poll I think.

They haven't played an amazing schedule, but it hasn't been a laugher either. New Mexico State, Colorado, Western Illinois, and @ Michigan State and the closest game of the bunch was yesterday's 34-7 win.

They currently have a top 3 offense in yards per game AND the top defense in yards per game.

That non conference is pretty bad. Those 3 have a combined 1 win and it’s over Hawaii.

I will say the MSU win is legit and I wouldn’t balk at someone saying they’re the favorite in the west.

Michigan State. Yikes.

But Minnesota looks legit. Not just a typical 7-8 win Minny team.

They're killing everyone they play.

I swear PJ Fleck is the guy Nebraska should go after with everything they've got.

Is Nebraska a more appealing job than just staying at Minnesota at this point? If I were Fleck I’d wait it out for a better job. He’ll be a top candidate most anywhere if the Minnesota program keeps progressing as it has.

Bill O’Brien would make a lot of sense to me at Nebraska. He was a dumpster fire in the pros, but seems like a good fit there.

Games of great import, week 5

Lots of interesting games

Washington @ UCLA, Fri, 10:30, ESPN: I had forgotten that the P12 did away with divisions. Washington avoids USC and Utah. Their toughest remaining games after this are @ Oregon and @ Wazzu. With how their offense is playing, they're a legit threat to finish in the top 2. UCLA is 4-0. They've played a soft schedule, but have mostly dominated. Only beat South Alabama by 1, but given the way the Sun Belt is, that's not the worst thing.

Michigan @ Iowa, B1G NOON FOX: B1G championship game rematch. After not playing anyone for 3 weeks, Michigan has their second straight game vs a team with 1 great unit and 1 awful unit. Against Maryland, Michigan enjoyed over a 1.5 ypp advantage, won the turnover battle 3-1, committed 1 penalty....and still needed to recover a late onside kick to win by 7. Maryland was a combined 9-14 on 3rd/4th downs, and only committed 1 penalty themselves, but still shocking Michigan only won by 7. Weird things happen at Iowa. If Michigan is turnover prone and penalty prone, it could be interesting.

Texas Tech @ KState, noon, ESPN+: Battle of the B12 upset teams. TT beat Texas last week and KState beat Oklahoma. TT also beat Houston and their only loss is @ NC State, but are unranked. Winner will make an interesting darkhorse for the B12 title game.

Kentucky @ Ole Miss, noon, ESPN: Kentucky got a little fortunate in their crossover schedule, with the other 2 being Miss St and Missouri. They've got a month till they play Tennessee and almost 2 until they play UGA. So after this game, their schedule sets up nicely.

Purdon't @ Mini-Soda, noon, ESPN 2: Purdue is 2 late TDs away from being 4-0 with 2 P5 wins. Instead, they are 2-2 and coming off a 2 pt home win vs Florida Atlantic. The Rowing Gophers are flying high. They had a horrible non conference schedule (but won all 3 with an average MOV of over 40 pts) and then thumped Sparty in East Lansing. They are currently the only ranked B1G West team, but still have trips to Happy Valley and Madison this year.

Oregon St @ Utah, 2, Pac12 Network: I only include this game because Oregon St almost upset USC in Corvallis last week, surrendering the go ahead score with just over a minute left. This seems like a huge letdown game, having to now travel to Utah.

Alabama @ Arkansas, 3:30, CBS: Arkansas lost to Texas AM thanks to a 99 yard fumble return and a doinked FG with a minute left. Arkansas offense is streaky, but KJ Jefferson can do some things and we saw what Alabama's offense looked like on the road vs Texas. I don't bet, so don't take my word, but Ark +16.5 at home seems really interesting.

Okie St @ Baylor, 3:30, FOX: Another conference title game rematch. Baylor had their CFP hopes likely dashed with a loss to BYU, but rebounded to beat Iowa State. Okie St. is coming off a bye and started the year giving up 44 points to Central Michigan. A Baylor win and the B12 will really be behind the 8 ball in terms of CFP. With Texas and Oklahoma already suffering upsets, the winner here certainly has a big leg up on getting back to the B12 title game.

Wake Forest @ FSU, 3:30, ABC: Another seeming trap game. Wake Forest goes on the road after a heartbreaking 2OT home loss to Clemson. FSU enters the top 25, with wins over LSU, Louisville andBC. 2 of those wins are mediocre, at best, ACC teams, but thats 3 P5 wins. FSU has NC State and Clemson next, then their schedule really opens up.

NC State @ Clemson, 7:30, ABC: NC State followed their near disaster vs ECU to open the season with 2 big wins over cupcakes sandwiched around a 13 point win over Texas Tech. Clemson survived @ Wake Forest, and now has to get up for another big one. Clemson's offense is still below the Trevor Lawrence days, but much improved.

Also, it's very possible the 4 best ACC teams are the 4 I've mentioned above. All 4 are in the Atlantic. UNC, Duke and Pitt seem like the best teams in the Coastal.

Well Nebraska should certainly be able to pay a lot more money.

So what's the deal with Michigan State? Did they lose a bunch of the transfers that were on last year's roster? Did Walker carry them that much offensively?
