Lost the World Series on this date 23 years ago.

Your memories ?

Despair

1995 was a combination of being so happy to be there but also understanding that the Braves pitching staff was just on another level

But 1997 we should have won. Both in general terms and in the specific game play of game 7.

2016 just as bad.

So frustrating.

I snuck into a home game with my dad, think you had to be 3 and under and I was almost 10 at the time. He had a ticket and carried me in. He put his coat over me while I curled up under it and acted like I was sleeping.

We sat at table # 13 in the Terrace Club.. enjoyed the seafood buffet... watched as Jaret Wright, on a low 30's, fluffy snow flake blowing night, pitched a great game # 4 of the World Series, in the Indians 10-3 win over the Marlins.. It was 72 in the restaurant..btw..

I set up sticky notes with 9 outs left and each out flipped to the next.

I held onto the 2 outs left sticky for years.

It's kind of a blank for me, pretty sure I've repressed the memories of that night. The next day, I did take solace in the thought that the Tribe still had a great offense, a no. 1 ace starter finally in Jaret Wright, another on his way in Bartolo Colon, young rotation pieces like Brian Anderson and Albie Lopez, and an owner willing to spend to win. I just knew they would be back to the World Series, and soon.

Saw the ball tip of Nagy's glove, then Counsel with his arms up, and my Dad just turned off the TV. That was that.
Remember the massive pit in my stomach when Fernandez booted the ball. And then being certain the game was over on that ball to right field that Manny caught but led to the tying run crossing the plate.

Should have known after that insanely outside called strike 3 in game 6 of the ALCS against the Orioles that fate would have something else in mind for Jose Mesa in the World Series.

Subsequently, the Rangers absolutely heartbreaking loss in the World Series made '97 not seem so bad.

I was watching game 7 in the lobby of my dorm room with a bunch of people, mostly non baseball fans but a few Indians fans. After the hit, I stood up. I didn't say a word. I walked outside. I YELLED at the top of my lungs for a good 90 seconds. I was not alone in doing that. I went inside. I went into my room. I went to bed. I didn't talk to anyone the rest of the night.

I was watching at home and people were outside yelling and blowing off fireworks during and after the top of the 9th. Then when I saw Mike Jackson didn't come out to pitch the bottom half, I knew we were finished.

I was 8 years old and sitting on one arm of a chair and my twin brother on the other arm with our dad in the middle. We had root beer on ice and ready to pop once the Tribe recorded the final out in the bottom of the ninth. My twin brother threw a mini-tantrum after the game and received a verbal scolding from my dad about how there's always next year. Yeah, about that.....

I don’t know whether I can read any more of these responses. Just too depressing.
