If we do make this Jermaine O'Neal trade, we should have an excellent selection of guards to select from. The chances of the Cavs taking a big are pretty low if minutes are going to Z, Ben, and J.O. Some posters have adamantly demanded a point guard who can make plays. Others see a need for scoring to relieve LeBron's burden.

I knew I should have named this thread: "The Realistic Chase Budinger Thread"

Here's my top 10 guards:
1. Rose (hey, if you guys can talk about Mayo with a straight face, why stop there?)
2. Mayo (rappsoda, please have a webcam going during the draft. I want to know you will be okay.)
3. Gordon
4. DJ Augustine
5. Joe Alexander
6. Gallinari
7. Rush
8. Westbrook
9. Bayless
10.Batum

I am not sure I would consider guys like Greene, Alexander, and Gallinari guards but I guess they would play on the wing along with LeBron.

4.Gordon
5.Augustin
6.Westbrook
7.Lee
8.Rush
9.CDR

haha, I just think that this is a possibility that I would like to see done very much. Don't worry about me, I'm sure I'll be blabbing for a while.

Honestly I feel Jerryd Bayless is the best fit in Cleveland, he's an explosive athlete with Dwayne Wade type ball-handling. He'll be an allstar.

I have sat through my share of Arizona games, and I certainly see the talent. He is certainly a Devin Harris-type player on offense, but I haven't seen much defense from him. I was tempted to put him higher, but if the Cavs are a half court team, he needs to learn how to defend and shoot from the outside.

I have similiar worries about Westbrook: they are great in transition, but still learning how to score in the half court. At least Westbrook could be a shut-down defender from day one.

While I agree to some extent that you have to bring in players that fit your system, I think a. That the cavs team D is more than sufficient enough to compensate for one poor defender and b. Even if players aren't running with Bayless, he can be a one man fast break similar to how Tony Parker fits in with the Spurs. And in half court sets Bayless can be used in isolation sets similar to Lebron.

Hey, you have very little argument with me on offense. My fear is on the defensive side with Bayless. That is why I have slightly more confidence in Westbrook, who is a great defender but needs work on his outside shot.

1 - Derrick Rose: really no question here
2 - OJ Mayo: I think he has a chance to be a start in this league at either guard spot.... He'd best be suited on a team like Portland or Cleveland where he doesn't have to fulfill all the PG duties but just some...
3 - Jerryd Bayless: he could really become an explosive scorer in the NBA...

(2nd tier)

4 - DJ Augustin: seems like a clone of former UT speedster TJ Ford...
5 - Eric Gordon: he'll be a pretty good player in the NBA if he is put into the right situation....
6 - Chris Douglass-Roberts: just love his all-around play and he'll be a very good role player down the road...
7 - Brandon Rush: if it wasn't for the injuries , he'd be a lock to be a top-10 pick, as he is a complete who could remind some of a James Posey type player...
8 - Russell Westbrook: I think he'll be a good player, but not the player everyone is hyping him up to be... It depends on what type of system he ends up in...
9 - Tywon Lawson: again it depends on the system but he'll be a solid player...
10 - Courtney Lee: a real sleeper in this draft class...

Left out: Russell Westbrook (not too convinced that he is a player worthy of a lottery pick)

As far as guys that fit the Cavs:

1). OJ Mayo
2). Jerryd Bayless
3). CDR
4). Brandon Rush
5). Courtney Lee

Others: Shan Foster, Jamont Gordan and Kyle Weaver

Westbrook fits this team, without a doubt but I just don't think he will be a god player or has the skillset we are looking for... Maybe someone can convince me otherwise...

I want OJ first and foremost and would absolutely anything to nab him and put him next to LeBron...

The more and more I think about CDR, the more and more I am starting to like him... He just seems like one of those players who "gets" it and will be a solid, consistent player who will bring it night in and night out... I really like his overall game and his ability to create his own shot and shots for others and his canny ability to score in variety of ways...
