2009 - 2010 Preseason Game 5 @ Spurs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
WOW!!! Thw scrub crew making a comeback!! 2 three balls in a row. Kurz having his best offensive game with us yet.

Rob and Russ show. Wooooooooooo

Did the Spurs really put back in starters?

edit: gamecast is retarded

I can understand Coach going hard with Jawad over Kurz. Jawad has been lighting it up with 27% field goal on 29 attempts in 80+ minutes. Kurz was given all the chances in the world and could only muster 50% from the filed and 75% behind the line in his whopping 30 minutes of action this preseason.

Conversely, Jawad Williams has more experience within the system defensively, can play more positions, and seems to show effort defensively. Rob Kurz is as non-existent as you can get on the defensive end of the ball, and that wont fly on a Mike Brown team.

For players who are going to play spot minutes at best, I'll take the guy who has a skillset (shooting) that can be utilised in certain situations.

Nice post, I understand the points about Zs potential being squashed while playing with scrubs, but I have noticed his own skill and technique taking a hit lately. Again, I'm sure it'll improve when playing with the normal bench crew or other starters, but Z's jumper has looked off lately, he is having trouble with free throws, and even when close to the basket he has banged some easy layups off the front of the rim. I'm sure it's just some early season wrinkles, but I want to see Z be as successful as possible in possibly his final year.

Can't speak for bad time when you're forcing shots when you finally get a look at 10 minutes of play or simply because of the inconsistency of the pre-season. We must remember that since the beginning, we've been missing everybody for parts of each game (even the 1st, where we only didn't have Delonte). Mo's been gone, Green, now Boobie, Delonte obviously, Andy, J.J., Powe (who can't do shit anyways at the moment), Moon, etc.

Z's unfortunately been ONLY playing the second unit this pre-season (that's how Brown works the rotation, crazy huh?), in case it hasn't been too clear, and when you only are paired with 1 or none of the competent guys, it's hard to get into a rhythm. I'm sure you knew that Z was a rhythm guy because of the necessity of shooting, right? He's still getting 3 of those a game with the terrible support.

Either way, we're gonna have to take a look once Z can get his right guys with him. LeBron plays 36-40 anyways, any combo of Delonte/Mo/Anthony/Boobie/Moon will also be on the court looking like smart players. And the power forward will be shored up with Andy/J.J./even Darnell (who's a decent fit with Z if he can remember to try to do something on the boards sometimes...). Get rid of these half-asses and we'll see a change. Can't really trust pre-season.

You'll see. I really doubt Z's skills left him just like that, and especially when his energy will be higher with the less needed minutes (that means 18-22 a game, which is still 5-10 less than last year overall). He's not a has-been, yet.

Oh, for comparison's sake, let's use Arvydas Sabonis as an example. At 34, he was a 12-8 guy in 27 minutes. 35: 11-8 in 25. 36: 10-5 in 21. The point is that Z is too big and too good of a shooter to simply lose that ability at the ripe age of 33-34. 36 is the danger year, so like I said, Z's not falling off yet.

What the gibberish... they fell in love with the 3 like T-Pain with strippers... that's costin us!!!!!

We have generally switched it up. Mo has served his time along with Delonte. LeBron has certainly taken up the challenge with some success.

At the end of the day Parker is an elite player at getting into the lane. It's more about have defensive shape to play help defense rather then the near impossible task of staying in front of him.

Thanks Karma + Boobie! Anyways, I'm banking on probably AP getting some time taking TP on too. Its true such an elite player like him makes it quite hard for us. In fact, its not just TP now, Derrick Rose, Rondo, Devin Harris, and CP3 just to name a few have blazing court speeds and finishes hard at the rim. Hopefully starting Andy (who's pretty solid on help defense) plus Shaq's size should provide some relief from these guards. I would not like to bash on the new refs though but the way I see it now is that these players would just be more effective because it seems that anytime a driving player makes some type of contact inside - a foul is called.
