2009 - 2010 Preseason Game 6 @ Mavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This was an irregular training camp guys. It's no different from the 2007 training camp, when we went to China. Guys got hurt, distracted, etc. This was where everybody got hit with Influenza A and got shut down. Even without that, Green, Varejao, Mo, Delonte, Moon, Boobie all got hit with injuries as well.

So there wasn't anything Brown could do because he only coaches a certain way. A disciplined way where you're not going to bend the rules of the game no matter what (he always is looking to split time equally, it's what he does, never puts in a player just so they can win a game, at least until it matters).

It may finally be hitting the end stretch, where all the guys are starting to heal up. We may finally see something less spastic, and since we're trying to attract fans in our region, we'll probably give the regular guys just enough of a run in Pittsburgh.

Either way, 14th and 15th guys are sometimes the most important part of the team. When you get hit with so many injuries, you need that depth to work with. That's a big reason why championship contenders can go further than others. And if this season looks anything like the 2007-2008 season (which I hated with the bad luck and injuries), we're gonna need those garbage players, the best of the best.

DON'T TAKE DEPTH FOR FUCKING GRANTED, YOU IDIOTS!

Okay, done with my rants.

Can someone tell me what they said?

I think he was referring to when Mike Brown said something along the lines of "we might not be fully ready come start of the season but he just wants to be ready come March" or something like that. The announcers basically said they disagree with that, you should be ready by November because they wouldn't play those games if it didn't matter.

Did you guys see that comment from a Mavs fan on that stream?

Bass isn't garbage...he's a nice player and I like him a lot....I just think Humphries is better....he's bigger, defends better, has a better outside game....dunks as good...and is probably has strong if not stronger....he has a better all around gam...

Wow. Evidently thinking highly of Humphries. I like him but I don't know if I would go that far.

Can someone tell me what they said?

They said it early in the game, so I don't quite remember word for word, but they were bashing Brown because before the game he said his team isn't where he wants it to be at this point of the pre-season, but it doesn't matter because he cares more about how his team will look in March rather than November.

The announcers took offense to that basically and said that a team's chemistry and ability in Oct/Nov dictates where they end up in March ranking wise. They basically bashed Brown for taking things lightly when you can't really take anything for granted in pro sports.

Unlike most of the other scrubs, Kurz's play actually didn't hurt the team....

Rodrigue Beaubois looks promising. I was upset I didn't get to see Nathan Jawai play tonight....apparently he and Jake Voshkuhl are competing for the 15th spot.

I'd like to say something about the comment they made on the Mike Brown comment (you play the games for real in March compared to November).

They can take offense to it as much as they like, but it's a big reason why the Spurs have won 4 championships in 9 years, and they have not always been the one with homecourt.

I won't disagree that you have to play the games in November to get to that point, but there's a certain degree to which you can do much better as you start getting into a rhythm in the down stretch. Look where it got the Mavs. Of course the Cavs won't take games off in November and will still get victories regardless, just based on their style of play, but they also have much more depth than the Mavs can afford. You can give 2 players games off each time and still have an 8 player rotation. What Mike probably means is that he'll try to give enough rest to a point where it may affect some games, but with the type of roster we have, we can back it up unlike the Mavs.

The announcers tried to be funny on the broadcast, and it seemed pretty lame for the most part. They called out a coach that has proven more in a season than their team has in the past 3. Let the games do the talking guys.

The more I see out of Moon the more I like him. He'll be able to pick up the slack if West is out for an extended period for sure.

The Mavs announcers only showed their lack of preparation with their comments. Had they researched their team's opponent they would have been able to infer that Brown's comments were directly related to the Cavs' preseason battles with illness and injuries. Brown wasn't making a philosophical statement, he was making an observational adjustment to the situation at hand. This team simply will not be ready for the start of the season because of the issues. And let's just say that the Cavs aren't the only group that doesn't appear ready for the season, either- the Mavs announcers could serve to do some work of their own.

This preseason reeks of 2 years ago coming off the Finals berth and the lackluster season we had as a result of the crazy preseason.

I don't like it.

So when exactly do we get optimistic posts from you?
