2014-2015 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah you right, I definitely wasn't calling for another Lynch run on that play. It was only the most obvious decision ever.
And like I said, if they do that and Lynch gets stuffed, fans complain it was the dumb thing to do because even the casual observer knew they were going to run.

Mmk.

I don't get how it could be viewed as "dumb" when you still have a timeout left and there is 30 seconds left at the time of the play call...you have one of the best power backs in the game, your line was playing very well in the 2nd half...you give it to him and if he doesn't make it, big deal, you call the TO and you still have ~25 seconds left to work with and 2 more chances to score. Just too big of a risk to throw there. Bevell did the same shit with the Vikings and Adrian Peterson in the 09 NFC Championship, probably cost himself a Super Bowl there too.

Hardly anyone would be complaining about trusting Lynch to get 1 freaking yard.

I was thinking it was over because there was no way they're going to stop him from getting in from there, but lo and behold they decide to throw...

It was a terrible call.

I really don't think you could be more wrong. It was second down, short yardage, and you have Marshawn Lynch plus a timeout. It was a no brainer. I specifically said before the play, "Just give it back to Marshawn."

I don't care if the Pats knew it was coming, they struggled with him all night. If the run fails they still have two more shots to throw it in...

Fans do have great hindsight, but this wasn't even a tough or a borderline call. It was a no brainer. Carrol tried to get cute.

Reactions: caf
I almost got emotionally involved in this game. Then I realized that I don't care about any football teams except the Browns and Ohio State.

Malcolm Butler would've been playing for the Browns if Lombardi was still here. He's Lombardi's guy.....

Glad the Patriots won. I liked seeing a Hall of Famer getting what's probably his last Super Bowl ring at the age of 37. Wilson has the next decade to get his redemption.

That's a great reaction gif :chuckle:

I am still really confused why the Seahawks did not run at the 1-yard line.

I really didn't want to have to start hating the Patriots again, but after that BULLSHIT?!!!!!

Ugh. Now idiots are going to go on about how he's better than Montana, etc. Bullshit. Montana went 4-0 in an era where you could actually defend WRs without worrying about getting a flag and no QB protection rules. The rich get richer. Finally closing the lid on an all-shit NFL season.

Montana's team was loaded and he didn't deal with free agency

They just over thought it. Carroll already took the blame saying he was planning to run on 3rd and 4th down if they didn't score. Not a great excuse though. Lynch had just had a nice run the play before and he was grinding out tough yards all game. No reason not to give him the ball there. Regardless, I'm just happy New England won. I'm not a fan of either team. I just think Brady is a great quarterback whose story is equally great. I'm only 25 so I don't have any memory of seeing other HOF QBs like Montana, Young, Elway, etc play so I always root for guys like Brady and Manning.

You are correct, Montana had a slightly better supporting cast. The full HOF career of the greatest WR of all time doesn't exactly compare too a few productive seasons of Randy Moss. Brady also never had a rb like Roger Craig. Those 49er teams also didn't have to contend with a salary cap that caused the Pats to jettison players over the years.
