2016 NFL Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's at least the 3rd Primetime game I've skipped in a row. I'll probably be watching tonight unfortunately.

I'm struggling though, outside of the Browns complete rebuild, I don't really find the NFL all that interesting anymore. Over the last 5 years I would've considered myself an NFL fan more than strictly a Browns fan. Now it's like 90% Browns and a few games here or there that have fantasy implications. Even then, I'm not exactly sweating missing those games. I'm not sure if it's the mediocre fantasy season, the injury reports becoming meaningless for FFB purposes, the horrible officiating or piss poor coaching decisions but I just can't get pumped about the NFL. Is the NFL dying slowly or is it just me?

Not just you. I also am really struggling to watch much NFL this year. Used to be pretty easy for me to watch multiple games every week.

NFL ratings are down across the board.

I think it is a lot of factors. Officiating, Goodell, mediocre play, mediocre teams, excessive commercials, bad primetime matchups.

I think fantasy football has really changed the way viewers consume games and I think the negative press about concussions, starting with Seau, has made the game less popular for some.

It really isn't

You will soon understand the ineptitude of Shurms

No, I won't...pretty common knowledge around the Vikings that he created the game plans for weeks 2-5 to help out Bradford, then Turner started to add more of his elements after the bye...was like watching 2 completely different systems from weeks 2-5 to the last 2, hence why Turner re-signed out of nowhere on a 5-2 team.

Literally anything is better than Norv Turner's Air Coryell system of 5 and 7 step drops with deep outs and double moves when your line is atrocious...doesn't take a genius to figure out that won't work, and we did that before our bye...we didn't coming out of our bye.

I get he was an awful head coach for you guys, I get it...but that's not the role he is playing here.

He's also an awful offensive coordinator.

If you need a guy who will create a play in the middle of the game that has never been practiced that calls for handing the ball to your 3rd TE who is lined in the FB position who had 0 career carries then Shurms is your guy.

If you need a competent play caller you'll need to look elsewhere.

We can revisit in a few weeks. You have no idea how bad of a football mind Shurmer has and I'm willing to wait for it to play out.

Like I said...I get that you hated him as a head coach and play caller for the Browns...I do.

But again, I know what I saw the first few weeks when he was creating the game plans and feeding the plays Bradford was comfortable with. No one watches them more than me, you should know that with how wrong you were in reply to me on the Bradford trade itself...

Also, you are talking about play calls he made 2 stops ago...he's since been with the Eagles and now the Vikings.

You know who I thought were terrible OC's at one point? Darrell Bevell and Bill Musgrave...coaches adapt and learn.

Fair enough. We will see how it plays out. My last take on the Vikings was dead wrong so let's hope this one is too.

My whole argument to this is literally anything is better than Norv Turner...he force feeded his system on the team, but they aren't built to run his shitty out of date offense.

I said it before with him. He's the football version of Phil Jackson shoving te triangle down people's throat.
