2017 NCAA March Madness

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As far as MAC teams go, Ohio U has actually been the most impressive of the conference over the last 10-15 years. Upset Georgetown (who hasn't) as a 14 seed back in 2009 or 2010. And then beat Michigan as a 13 seed back in 2012, I think. They were actually super close to making the Elite 8 that year but lost to UNC in overtime. I went to BGSU and they're the only team to never win the MAC tournament and haven't been to the NCAA since 1968. Pretty pathetic.

Anyway, I'm pulling for SMU to do some damage. I usually root for most mid majors because an NCAA Tourney without at least one good mid major Cinderella team is fucking pointless.

Remember when Gonzaga used to be fun to root for as an underdog?

Butler and Wichita State are a little too on the radar for me nowadays too.

Obviously SMU is my school, but I'd like to see St Mary's do some work as well.

OU has had a couple of nice wins in the Tournament since 2010- come to think of it they might be the only MAC team to advance since the early 2000's. Used to be a lot more common for MAC teams to win Tournament games; from 1989 through 2003 the MAC won at least one Tournament game in 10 out of 14 years. Kent reached the Elite 8 in 2002; Miami w/Wally Szczerbiak got to the Sweet 16 in 1999; Eastern Michigan got to the Sweet 16 in 1991 and Ball State got to the Sweet 16 in 1990 (and almost upset that juggernaut UNLV team to boot.)

I was only like 14 years old at the time, but definitely remember that Kent State team in 2002 with Trevor Huffman and Antonio Gates. That was a fun team.

Yeah, outside of the late 90's/early 00's I've not been one to root for the Zags. Maybe it's a lack of likeable players (Adam Morrison, anyone?) or a west coast thing, I don't know. I do like Wichita State, Dayton, Butler, and VCU as other mid majors types that are basically perenial march madness teams at this point... just as long as they aren't going up against a less heralded mid major that's easier to root for.

But my favorites are always the Florida Gulf Coast's, Vermont's, Lehigh's, and Northwestern State's that come in as relatively unknown 13-15 seeds and shock the world. I mean if it wasn't for march madness 95% of the world wouldn't even know these schools existed.

Oh, and the George Mason Final 4 run was one of the most amazing things I've seen in sports. Their admissions went up 350% after that 2006 run.

What's everyone's take on the Lavar Ball shit?

We allowed to solicit for entrants into a money bracket pool in these parts? If so, $20 via venmo/cash app. Got some OH friends and NC friends. Trying to get a big prize pool. If not, please disregard.

Very excited to see if MTSU can make a Sweet 16 appearance. I think we have a well-rounded roster, and this will be the year to do it while we still have Reggie and JaCorey.

MTSU has a great draw. Minnesota as a 5 was one of, if not the biggest, head scratchers from a seeding perspective.

I've got MTSU in the sweet 16 in my bracket, as well as Rhode Island and I believe UNCW. Giddy Potts is that dude!

Certainly hope we can make it to the Sweet 16, and I don't think it is out of the question at all. It'll make my job much easier next season, that is for sure.

Do you sell tickets for MTSU athletics?

So do you guys do a RCF Tournament Bracket challenge or anything?

I'll create one on ESPN for anyone who's interested.

Group name: RealCavsFans
Password: LilKev

It's a locked group and only one entry per person. To simply things try and use your RCF name for your bracket entry. We can discuss in here if we want this to be a free entry just for fun, or throw money on it. I'm good either way.

Nice! I was a sport management major at BGSU and did ticket sales there for awhile. Not as easy of a sell as what you have going for you right now lol.
Went to BG also. Graduated 2014. Did my practicum in the ticket office doing ticket sales. Small world, huh?

Also a BG grad (class of 2008). Worked in the Athletic Department while in school.
