Love was Love. I honestly thought he was solid.

Having TT our there doesn’t help Love at all. It’s just too hard for this team to score playing 4 on 5. It was tough to play 4 on 5 even with Lebron.

The game got much tighter once Zizic got some run. Teams can’t just treat Zizic like a rec league player and ignore him. He can basically do everything offensively as a big-post score, shoot, pass. He’s really a very talented real offensive center.

Cedi was great.

Clarkson was incredible at least by the standard he’s set as a Cav. He’s a lot like Hood. Not having the Lebron stress makes him a calmer player.

Hood was solid.

Hill was solid.

TT was a disaster. Just a black hole train wreck. He at least didn’t look so slow. But his hands around the basket were comically bad. Nobody respects his offense. Turnover machine, marginal defensive big at this point as well. Just a great player to have on the floor if you’re trying to lose. But he gets a few loose ball offensive rebounds...so there’s that....

Decker looks pretty useless-marginal defender, no confidence in his shot. At least he has some passing skills and semblance of a floor game.

Sexton flashed. He played slightly better than I thought he would. Overall nice start for him.

This team really needs Nance. He adds a really special dimension to this squad...

God-damn. That really stings, when you say it that way. He left us not once, but twice. He really did not want to be here. He came back basically to fulfill his promise. So at least there is that. But this is just not where he wanted to be.
Not to get too far off track. But if not here than where did he want to be LA? Seems like a real late start if that was the preferred destination 15 years ago.

Leave Lebron alone. He gave us 11 years, 5 eastern conference titles, and one NBA title.

I truly believe he had a multi objective career ambition which included winning a title for the Cavs and playing in LA.

I think the Miami detour was the only thing that he may not have ever planned for early on....

Kahwi is in no way staying in Toronto...
One of the interesting sub plots for me is if Kahwi would be any good away from Pop.

So I watched him allot on both defense and offense this game, and yeah, Kahwi is really good, lol.

Tristan is awful when the ball touches his hands. The guy is a rebounding machine if he could learn to hang onto the ball and not bring it down to his waist. Hood is what I expected and Clarkson has never met a shot he didn't like.

Cedi is solid and could be very good. Love needs another player to step up and Sexton was a bit overwhelmed but it was his first game.

I trust most in here understand what this team is.
After seeing this I can say they do need time together but regardless ,they are not going to cut a path of destruction throughout the EC...:02.47 tranquillity:
I give them credit for being down and trying to come back.
It was the first game and I could tell Toronto wanted to shed those Lebron smacks of the past off their shoulders.

But they will win some games.
Interior defense is a hole.
TT is (as another poster said ) a hole himself. Zizic does need more playing time.
Sexton is going to have to learn how to use his body going to the hoop against bigger players and draw fouls.

While Osman is a ok player, I'm not going to over value him.
Love is what he is..he's going to have trouble with more athletic players facing him.
Still say give them about 20 games and we'll see just whats really happening.

I saw a lot of turnovers and bad passes that were a product of unfamiliarity.

as Austin Carr mentioned multiple times in the game the shooting just wasn't there.

nothing to lose sleep over. on to the next game.

team should be able to get off to a 6-4 to 4-6 start out the gate.

Should have been 7 Eastern Conference titles and 5 NBA titles.

Wish we could have fast-tracked the rebuild, by drafting Trae Young. Dude is going to be an instant 25-ppg scorer and high-level defender. Sex Bomb is going to struggle.

The ship will eventually be righted.
For now, the Cavs showed a lot positive: No quitting when down cowbell numbers, CEDI CEDI CEDI, and certain players (Hill, even Clarkson and Hood to a degree) playing more as one would expect when they're given something other to do than catch and shoot.

Yes, I am a little mad that while in LeSystem, the Cavs could not figure out how to get Cedi in the mix. I think for missing out on Luka, the Cavs may have a similar player to call their own. And Sexton will come around, too. Hopefully Lue figures out which players offer the maximum benefit. For one, I was glad JR was not on the floor -- I'm not sure if he would have even done what Clarkson did to start the 4th. The decision to start Hill was a sound one.

This is going to be nice not having to worry about teams like Toronto... yet.

Speaking of which: They really did just replace Derozan with Kawhi and Danny Green. That is almost Warriors-level of acquisition.

my take on the game overall was it was a solid effort despite shooting woes & the first step in a process of understanding how best to utilize the line ups going forward.
Nothing is going to come easy with no star treatment officiating esp when the opposition has it.
Priorities as the season roles on should be focus'd on how to defend the paint better whether through trade or more likely by committee with the latter being
the less optimal option against teams that have plenty of efficient 3 point shooters getting left open.
Cut down on the turnovers is priority 2 and can be achieved much easier.
The fact they got to the charity stripe is a good sign going forward as well.
