2018 Browns Free Agent Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, but Coleman was a rookie then, and we didn't have Josh Gordon (who literally does everything Pryor is capable of a billion times better) and Jarvis Landry to soak up targets either.
Sure, but by that logic, a team shouldn't carry any more than 3 quality receivers. After all, aside from playing special teams, what's the point? Right?

Gordon's past makes him someone you can't count on. In Pryor's mind, he might think he's better than Coleman and would win the #3 job. I'm not saying he is.

I'm also not saying we really missed out or anything. I'm just saying that if he wanted to be here, I'm shocked that's the money he ended up getting. Thus, clearly, our front office must not have wanted him.

Who knows? I suppose it may have been that we "expressed interest", but that after meeting with him or his agent, decided it wasn't a fit. Because otherwise, you're right. That relatively small salary shouldn't be enough to have dissuaded us.

Well, in our case, I personally think we'd be better off drafting a WR and developing him behind our other guys than wasting a roster spot on a free agent pushing thirty who has had one good season at the position he transitioned to a couple of years ago.

Signing a player is a 2 way thing and a one year deal means they are looking to produce so they can get a bigger contract next year. So essentially a 2nd year of having to prove himself.

With the Jets you have zero 1,000 yard receivers and only 2 players with 60 receptions last year. He can step in and produce.

With the Browns he is behind 2 stud WR that are "new" to the team in Gordon and Jarvis and an emerging TE and coleman, what ever he figures to be. Even if we have the better QB now and throw for 4k yards vs 3k yards, he should still put up better stats in NY. (yes that is more than Tyrod has ever thrown by allot, just being extreme on purpose)

Basically while we might have liked him as a Gordon insurance policy, that doesnt mean Pryor had interest in that. He did what is best for him, not just 1 year but for the next 5 hopefully and I cant blame him for that. Besides, i am guessing he even is fighting with Higgins to be the 6th option in recieving behind Jarvis, Gordon, Duke, Njoku and Coleman. Not the best place for a guy who thinks he is a starter in this league.
I understand all of that. That's not my argument.

My argument is that Pryor "wanted" Cleveland. That's what we were told.

"Cleveland had mutual interest." That's what we were told.

Then, we were told "Both Pryor and Cleveland interest is mutual, but they remain apart on money." This was even after adding Jarvis Landry, thus, he knew his spot on the pecking order.

Going somewhere else on a prove-it deal makes plenty of sense. Somewhere he can be featured. However, I'm not sure there is such a place, first of all. Secondly, he's the one who was interested in Cleveland, supposedly. That's not for me to say.

All I'm saying is... with the cash he received, I'm surprised we "remained apart on money" with Pryor at any point if we had actual interest. This leads me to believe that we weren't actually interested.

I completely agree with you. I really do.

WE ARE BETTER OFF WITHOUT PRYOR. In my opinion, at least. That's not really my point.

My point is this: with what he signed for... and with us supposedly having "mutual interest"... and he only started visiting other teams after we heard "the Browns and Pryor remained apart on money"... I'm shocked we didn't pay that peanuts salary. And sure, I'm glad we didn't. I just thinks it means we were never actually interested and that was all smoke.

I guess, I'm just saying that it must have been US who didn't want Pryor. Not the other way around. Which is what we all agree should be the case.

I'm basically saying Mary Kay was full of shit with us being "interested."

Well, Mary Kay is mostly full of shit and has no idea what she's talking about, so that's nothing new.

At any rate, if I'm the Browns, I'd prefer to see what I had in Coleman this year rather than bringing in a soon to be 29-year-old who has had only one season of solid production at WR. If Coleman pans out, we've got him for another year on his rookie contract and he's five years younger than Pryor.

Pryor gets no sympathy from me. He showed no loyalty last year after we had made him something out of nothing. He just shopped us and bolted.

He earned the right to do so, and now he will face his consequences, including my right to say fuck that guy.

@Los216 gonna need a new pair of pants when he sees this

Jokes on you. I already told myself that OBJ is not happening so when it does I can be filled with new unexpected excitement.

And isn't there a highly ranked QB prospect that goes to UCLA? Hmm...

Yeah... who's probably going #2 to the Giants. Where OBJ currently plays.

Have fun or GTFO

He is Chosen
