2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They brought Kliff Kingsbury in to be an offensive mastermind, and bring Rosen along. Here's the red flag on Rosen going back four years: supposedly he has a difficult personality. We know that Kingsbury has been around Texas a long time. If he watched Murray and convinced himself that Murray is a much more likely winner, make the move now.
Im no expert in anything football related, but Murray doesn't pass the eye test with me. Id take Rosen, Baker, Darnold and Allen over Murray 10/10 times.

The buzz coming out of the combine is that the Cardinals would rather take Murray and build around Murray, even if they take a bath on Rosen's value. I didn't think it made much sense either, but this is Kingsbury's call. He will be on the chopping block if the offense doesn't work. Most of Rosen's contract was paid the first year in bonus money, so he is very tradable.

I'd keep both if they are insisting on drafting Murray

If I am a team like the Giants, Patriots etc, I would really consider moving a 3rd for him if they are willing to go that low or lower on a deal for him. All have a good veteran QB at the end of their careers so that would be so much cheaper than spending a first on this years crop of QBs if you don't like them to be any better.

Arizona didn't have an OLine at all to protect Rosen and he is a rookie who is a pocket QB. You need a line to protect a guy of that style of QB. I don't get their thinking, but I guess the Cardinals new coach doesn't like Rosen.

I agree with you on this at the end of the day, but if the coach doesn't want Rosen, it will be hard to keep him on the roster and force him to take him. I guess get what you can for Rosen and move on. This move will make or break both guys though. I would think building the players around Rosen, via the line first would be the best move so trading down a bit and getting the best OLine or two in the draft would be my first move if I was the Cardinals.

New England, Pittsburgh, and New Orleans would be wise to make that call if they want to stay relevant after their respective windows.

God knows every other QB thirsty team will trade for a guy with some decent upside. Grab your (potential) franchise guy for less than a top ten draft pick(assuming Cardinals' asking price is reasonable)

Agreed. I don't think Rosen will demand a first rounder since Arizona would be selling low, but they can pick up a package of picks including at least one second. That should accelerate rebuilding that awful offensive line.

Most of the analysts are saying they wouldn't be willing to give up more than a 3rd round pick, so its a good probability he gets moved for that when/if they move him. This could almost be a Tom Brady steal if he reaches his potential honestly.

For the Cardinals, I guess using the number one on Murray would be okay while using whatever they get to help the team out, but I almost feel trading from number one then getting the best OLine in the draft would be the best thing for the team and protecting Rosen.

Rosen is such an outdated QB prototype.

Complete statue in the pocket.

I am not going to disagree with that, but he is a better athlete than Brady when it comes to pure athleticism. I think on the right team with a good OLine he could progress well.

There is really no such thing as an outdated prototype.

There are just other types.

That’s like saying the success of Antonio Brown makes the prototype of Julio Jones outdated.

Unequivocally dumb, there will continue to be plenty of QBs who have success while not being adept at scrambling or being outside the pocket.

Or the game is just evolving to the point where not being mobile puts you at a serious disadvantage.

Especially a guy like Rosen who has a very weak pocket feel. Not being mobile and not being able to slide away from pressure and extend plays are very different things. Unfortunately for Rosen he’s both, and that is simply outdated in today’s NFL.

Has anyone heard what Charlie Casserly reported on Murray? Said that per some of the team interviews he has never heard worse about a top rated quarterback. Study habits, work ethic, and leadership skills are getting terrible reviews.

Dwayne Haskins is about to go in the Top 10, so I doubt it's viewed that way.

Justin Herbert will almost certainly go in the Top 10 in 2020.

Carson Wentz will continue to thrive, Tom Brady will live on until he's 50.

Someone should alert the rest of the NFL who keeps taking these guys.
