2018 NFL SEASON Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah this game being a defensive masterpiece seems like a stretch. :chuckle:
Yup. I think back to a game like Super Bowl XLII (undefeated Patriots vs. Giants) and recognize it as a defensive masterpiece that still managed to be wholly entertaining. That was a 7-3 game heading into the fourth quarter but had a dramatic back-and-forth conclusion that yesterday's contest completely lacked.

Brady is such trash, if he's the GOAT, the game's fucked up. Just a pitful performance from both sides. Of course the Cheatriots still benefit.

Can't wait to see Baker drop 40 on these asswipes next season. After Wentz does the same.

Rather than focusing on poor quarterback play, it would be nice if the real football fans gave credit to the defensive coordinators for preparing their teams so well. My wife and kids lost interest after a half hour... but watching a tedious defensive stalemate with punters playing a vital role in field position is what I've been preparing for the last twenty years. It was the Brownsiest Super Bowl of all time... until Freddy Kitchens and Baker Mayfield show up.

Right....because you determine who is the GOAT by focusing only on the raw quality of a championship game someone plays (and won) when they are 41 years old....

I mean, obviously.

There are other factors, but really, the key factor is: Fuck Brady.

People just hate greatness for some reason. It's definitely easier to hate the Pats just because of their mega douche fans but their greatness just can't be denied, i'm sorry. I mean the guy was the 199th pick in the draft and becomes the greatest qb ever to lace em up? That's a real life movie if i've ever seen one. Also, anyone on here would do some crazy shit to have half of that organizations success. Can't wait for next year that's for damn sure . . .

I...didn't think they were out of the conversation for winning the super bowl this year. Even when they had a few clunkers during the season.

I know I keep pounding the table for the Brady/Sex Offender/Ray Lewis/Manning 4 headed Hydra..but it's pretty much Pittsburgh and New England's conference until either
a.) Belichick retires.
b.) Brady retires
c.) Sex Offender Retires
d.) All of the above

You can pretty much follow a flow chart in that regard to determine who was going to be in the Super Bowl from our conference. With the yinzers not in the conversation? Wasn't going to be anybody else but New England.

Which is why I didn't believe Kansas City really had a shot at the damn thing. You are not beating Belichick's cyborg brain and you are not beating the league which has done quite a bit to protect Brady's career (Remember the "Roughing the Passer" call?)

There is no question that Brady does have a diminished talent set...who wouldn't at age 41? However...I can guarantee the combo of the league's stance on protecting QB's and having Belichick mask his faults really does work in his favor. His mental acumen is also very strong thus allowing him to survive past quite a few QB's I think.

And before the guy with the username of one of my favorite vikings player chimes in? I don't know how much longer this guy can play at this age. You'd be foolish to believe that. If he had a few clunkers next year? It's not without merit to say that this could be it. That's not a "NO ONE BELIEVED IN US" message. That's stating the facts.

Doug P's massive brass balls & Big Dick Nick schtupped Belicheck's defense so hard & deep that his cyborg brain was bleeding.

Also fuck Belichick for thinking Vinny Testeverde could be a successful NFL QB. I'm still bitter.

Belichick would have been an excellent hire for a team that would have needed a complete reboot or one that was completely lacking an identity.

The Browns circa 1990 were not that. While they were indeed aging? They had somewhat of an identity and could have been pushed in the right direction with a coach more in line with the Schottenheimer tree (read: Bill Cowher).

Cowher was on our staff at the time, but Belichick was considered far and away the best option that year, much like Hue 3 years ago LOL.

The hilarious thing about Schottenheimer being replaced by Bud Carson was that Modell said Carson wouldn't allow a team to drive down the field for a tying touchdown in a playoff game like Schottenheimer's 3-man rush against Elway on 3rd and 18. Modell was so clueless that he didn't realize Bernie drove the team down the field TWICE for ten points to send the game to double OT the week before against the JETS and their defensive coordinator -- Bud Carson.

The 80's team was primarily built from the '78 draft, USFL refugees and conspiring with Bernie to screw Minnesota with the supplemental draft ploy (because Bernie got enough credits to graduate in three years). Our drafts during the 70s 80s and 90s were mostly shit (mad dog in a meat market with the fifth pick and other gems). Eventually that caught up with us.
