2019-20 Cavaliers Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm talking about the rest of the season. We have 3 empty roster spots. If we go to the GLeague and throw out a bunch of 10 day deals until someone sticks we might find someone. If you throw enough shit at the wall something will eventually stick. See Heat with Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn. You can find role players in the GLeague. We have a chance to keep trying out guys for the last 3 months of the season and seeing if any of the wings stick.

Maybe. I think a wing is the hardest position to find there. You need a wing to have a combo of guard and big skills, and Gleague guys are one dimensional.

Lots of smaller guys who can play so there are a glut of guards, and plenty of defensive bigs. Maybe there is a guy better than Mckinnie. I think he is actually and NBA player even if not a very good one.

You know what your getting with McKinnie and he likely won't be back next year. I don't see why we don't try a Zach Norvell (6-5 Wing) who may not be as big but who is shooting 39 percent from deep on 7 attempts a game. Who's also 4 years younger. And if he does well we have a deep reserve for at least a couple of years. If it doesn't translate cut bait and try to find the next guy. The unknown to me is better then McKinnie.

I'm really liking this team for next year. The young guys will be more developed and hopefully we add a wing player with our first pick. Here's my all too soon lineup/roster for next year.

Garland - Exum - Delly
Sexton - Cedi - Windler
KPJ - Draft Pick - Mckinnie
Love - Nance
Drummond - Zizic

Definitely should upgrade our backup pg and backup C positions.

The only thing that scares me about that lineup is KPJ is clearly the second best defender. Yikes.

Dont see delly or zizic being here

Probably depends on what they want. I would like Delly to stay on very small deal and be a mentor. Where else would he go? I'd put him on the coaching staff unless he wants to go play in Australia, which is a real option.

Ante COULD still re-sign her next year, but we did decline his 20-21 option. Given how little interest/faith we've shown in prioritizing his development, it's hard to imagine he'll be back

Not to dwell on the Irving trade but he has played in just 20 games this season and is expected to miss the upcoming Nets road trip. Nets will come to regret giving him a max contract.

I think before the season, the front office most likely envisioned trying to get a stretch 5, have an athletic rim runner, and a hybrid stretch PF/center like Nance has developed into, as the long term goal for the center group. That is pretty much how the NBA is trending.

Now with the clear defensive liability of Sexton and Garland as a backcourt, they have to adjust their thinking on how they will shape the roster to compensate that. I think Drummond is the guy to experiment with if you want to log big minutes with Sexton and Garland to see if can be a 30+ minutes a night pairing long term.

Now if Drummond as a tradition center only partial solve the problem but the ceiling of the team is still limited with the Sexton/Garland pairing, maybe they resign Zizic. If Zizic can be the backup center that allows Sexton and Garland to play that 12-15 minutes a game together but the best lineups are them separated with a more modern center, a Zizic type makes more sense. No reason to drop big money long term on a center that you only want to play limited minutes so your 2 small guards can co-exist on the team but truly not as a pairing.

I would say in % form of likeliness these out of contract players will be back are something like this:
Delly - 10%
Zizic - 0%
TT - 0%
Wade - 50%
Drummond - 90%

I think they're our only out of contract guys, pretty sure Mooney was signed to a multiyear deal unless I am wrong there?

Even with McKinnie re-signed we still have 2 roster spots open unless they bring back Bolden again which seems pointless now

They will regret irving not only being injured but also locker room cancer. And they got durant coming off achilles. Franchise is screwed. Rather be the cavs

Levi Randolph had 47 points tonight for Canton. Along with 4 assists and 9 rebounds. Of course I’ve learned by reading this forum he is garbage!!
