2019-20 Cavaliers Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Going out on a limb cavs charge team made a trade to get Vince Edwards he will be on cavs team in 2 weeks in my opinion 3 point shooting forward from Purdue I believe he is the missing piece when he was with Houston he was injured last week in g league 35 points '

I imagine that he will get a 10 day assignment. But unless things are different without Beilein he won’t get an opportunity except mop up time.

I went back and watch all his games that were on the internet after getting injured in Houston and taking about 8 months to get back he looks very good I have in the past have found a player that most people did not think much of and have been correct most of the time

Can you give us a scouting report on him?

Good Rebounder Good Passer Uses Both Hands To shoot keeps his head in the game not a ball hog very active.

I think this team needs to find a way trade Mr Talc. It's one thing to want out of a situation but it's another to be so negative that it impacts the team. I've never seen a borderline star get a pass from the media, even though he doesn't try every night.

The guy shows up when he wants to,doesnt try to play defense, doesn't hustle down the court on fastbreaks, acts like he's on the same level as Kyrie and Lebron, treats the young guys like shit and throws the coach under the bus constantly.

I guess having a ring allows people to treat people like garbage. Tristan and Dellvadova been more of leader than this piece of garbage.

Apparently, he wants the offense to pick up the pace...

Apparently, he wants the offense to pick up the pace...

Every Cavs coach has said this. If he seriously wants to pick up the pace, he will have to pull the vets like Nance, TT, and Love when they don't immediately give the ball up to a guard, waits to see if another guard other than Sexton can get open, or takes the ball up themselves. Sexton should be the pace setter when he is on the floor.

So what should the Cavs try to accomplish in the final 28 games? Here's my list, in no particular order.

1. Be more consistently competitive. More wins would be nice but the main thing is to reduce the number of blowouts and double digit losses. Have a chance to win late in the game more often so the young players get the experience of playing in late and close situations.

2. Greatly reduce the huge scoring runs by opponents where the Cavs get outscored 19-4 (for example) in a 4-5 minute span. They've had a lot of losses where one awful 4-6 minute segment of a 48 minute game represented the difference in the final score. When the bleeding starts they need to learn how to stop it much quicker, before it puts them in a hole too big to crawl out of.

3. Come out stronger to start the third quarter. The Cavs are the NBA's worst third quarter team and most of it is due to playing poorly in the first few minutes. That has to stop.

4. Finish the game stronger instead of collapsing down the stretch. Learn to close out wins when they have a lead going into the last four minutes.

5. Better defense in the paint where the Cavs are the league's worst. Getting Drummond should help.

6. Continue the individual development by rookies Garland and Porter along with sophomore Collin Sexton, whose assist totals have been increasing.

7. A strong finish to the season by Love, Nance, and Osman.

8. Determine if Drummond is a significant help to the team and if the organization wants to try and extend his contract beyond next season. They may have to wait and see if they can draft James Wiseman before making a decision on Drummond.

9. Play better defense against the pick-and-roll, better man-to-man defense, and better help defense where if a Cavs player gets beat off the dribble a teammate picks up his man until the original defender can recover or switch onto the other opponent.

10. Lead the league in offensive rebounding with Drummond and Thompson killing it on the offensive glass.

11. Give Delly a last hurrah since he probably won't be back.

12. Unleash Tristan Thompson from the 3-point line (just kidding, I think).

I agree, with everything you said especially 2,3,5,6 and 9...

I might have done that to get off Love's money but I'm not sure the front office is quite desperate to move on yet. They may want to let the Love-Drummond connection have a chance to click first. Maybe if the Drummond thing hadn't come up we might have just pulled the bandaid off and moved Love and filler for those two ending contracts.

Not sure how that could have worked,,Baze makes like 20 million and Whiteside makes 27 so we would have had to send out other contracts to match that.
Maybe Thompson and Love would have worked.
Most probably Henson &/or Knight are throw ins to make the salaries work... Doesn't make sense with the Cavs though if Portlnd is not adding picks or young guys with potential... Cavs not looking on purely salary dump transactions
