2019-20 Cavaliers Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Most probably Henson &/or Knight are throw ins to make the salaries work... Doesn't make sense with the Cavs though if Portlnd is not adding picks or young guys with potential... Cavs not looking on purely salary dump transactions

Then they said, "Would we rather Dump Kevin and our other expirings and have Bazemore and WHiteside or just get Drummond for Expiriings?"

I'm still surprised that Portland didn't offer more. It's a weak draft and Love could fit in with them long term real well. The cap space they gain from Whiteside expiring doesn't really do much. I wouldn't be looking to resign Whiteside to anything other than 1+1 with a team option.

Lillard and McCollum are in their prime, it seems dumb for them to waste a year. Love is only 2 years older than Lillard.

I have been following the cavs for fifty years they have probably the best young group of players including Drummond in their history give them 3years and they will be in the play offs this generation wants instant results it doesn't work that way enjoy the ride we had the Magical ride of Richfield every game was like game 7 in 2016

It’s too bad the team isn’t playing the Heat first post-ASG. These losers deserve to get run by 40 again.

21 turnovers and just 19 assists but somehow managed to win

Since LeBron Cavs 0-81 in games down by 16 or more before tonight
Wow, great stat! In JBB's first game they make a great comeback.

Here's a post-game quote that kind of blew me away:

“I wonder the same thing sometimes,” Darius Garland said when asked why playing hard has been so troublesome. “But I take a lot of responsibility for that because I’m the leader of this team.”

On the one hand I'm wondering why a 20-year-old rookie thinks he's the leader of the team. On the other hand I like that he wants to take a lot of responsibility for making sure the team plays hard.

Bickerstaff's vison:

"My approach is: this is bigger than basketball. I don’t try to treat guys like pieces on a board. Before I work with anybody, I build a relationship with them and try to give them as much of myself as I possibly can and they tend to give that in return."

Tristan Thompson weighed in on JBB:

"He can read people, can read energy and is good with personalities. That’s how the NBA is. The coaches that are successful in our league are the coaches who know how to relate to the players...with the NBA and how it’s trending, coaches have to be able to relate to players, players have to feel comfortable being able to talk to them, have a human relationship with them, personal relationship with them. It helps your team so much more."

So now we have a player's coach replacing an autocrat who the players feel was disrespectful and didn't treat them as professionals. We'll see how it works out. It's off to a good start.

Seen it on line just thought it was shocking statistic but just as surprised with Garlands comments. The new coach must of had one hell of pep talk with him. Letting him know what his vision for the future is for the 5th over all pick.

Bickerstaff and the players all have a lot to prove here. I can't help but think that Bickerstaff helped orchestrate or at least didn't push back against the insurrection that was occurring on the team with Beilein because he knew he was next up to the spot. The coach needs to win more games and actually show some progress in making the young guys better over the last quarter of the season because I am not sure he is guaranteed the job next year if they regress. And the players need to show that they will give effort most nights because they certainly showed little character over the season so far.

Last night's game really did spark a renewed interest for me. New coach, away game, big time comeback. The Cavs win the game, and without a really big game from Love, Drummond, or even Porter Jr. If they win tonight in Miami, I'll be closing in on a state of Nirvana for a few days thinking about next year.

Still can’t believe after 2 years nobodies informed TT Nance and now Drummond that they have no business handling the ball.

Last night they combined for 10 turnovers... TT 3 Nance 3 Drummond 4. How is that even possible and how can a coach at the NBA level not address this?

Starting to understand Belein hammering fundamentals, most players on this team don’t understand basic basketball.
