2019-20 Cavaliers Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Stats in Jan for the younger guys:

Garland: 16.6ppg, 2rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.1spg, 46% fg, 36% 3p%, 89% FT, 2.4 tpg

Cedi: 14.3ppg, 4rpg, 1.7apg, 51% fg, 44% 3p%, 67% FT, 1.9 tpg

Sexton: 21.4ppg, 3.3rpg, 2apg, 45% fg, 43% 3p%, 88% FT, 1.7tpg

KP and Windler: :(

Note: Garland would be leading Rookie of the Month for the East atm ahead of Washington, Barrett and Nunn

As we approach game time, just a sad, sad note that had lotto balls been a little more favorable we could have a core of Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. to build around. Those two guys are so solid as talents and both have the right mental makeup that barring injury, I would be shocked if they are not a perpetual top 4 seed in the West for a long time starting in about two years.

I hear ya, I'm watching that game now too and those two certainly impress. A lot to like there.

this team is very entertaining.

They get up for certain opponents. At least for a half until the other team starts trying. They’re an odd combination of hilarious, disciplined, undisciplined, bad, good all at once. A bunch of parts that don’t work together but still sometimes try to run a rigid system. You have Sexton forcing shots every other possession with no regard for his teammates or game flow. Cedi doing a Lebron impression a few times a game (very rarely works out). Henson and Exum might as well be the same person running around hoping the ball makes it their way. Thompson and LNJ doing waaaaay too much ball handling, often with painful and funny results. Garland flashing a Curry-lite stroke and you’re just waiting for everything to click. Kevin Love doing a Gran Torino gif face multiple times a game after all of the above.

make no mistake, we’re bad. But this is more watchable than a typical tanking season.

I'm sorry but the Cavs need to draft a center that can score, rebound and defend...I'm tired of teams going to the basket untouched.

Tristan can rebound but he's a liability scoring. And,when he goes against bigger players he's invisible.

Zizic can defend and score but he's slow footed.

Henson is worse than Tristan offensively but can block shots.

Nance is trying to be a decent scorer but the defense aint there.

I would keep Nance and Zizic, trade Tristan and release Henson while drafting a center.

If this team were in the playoff hunt, bringing Henson back for a reasonable deal would make sense. Doesn't hurt having a shot block big at the end of the bench.

Needs to be traded: Love, TT, Knight, Zizic, and Henson.

I'm hoping for a firesale with everyone listed outside of Love. I would prefer they keep either TT or Zizic, although I doubt TT wants to stay and neither does Zizic since they gave up on him.

No one is going to trade for Knight

No, but his contract can be used to match salaries. Say if the Cavs took back Waiters and a pick from Miami or something like that.

Does Miami have picks they can deal?

I can’t see that happening and it’s not really worth it for a second rounder (Miami can’t trade picks for a while I’m pretty sure)

Not sure, just used them as an example of a salary dump.

I get the feeling there's a number of teams that might want to dump salary since they're out of contention. Detroit, Portland, and San Antonio come to mind

It was an example of the type of deal that would involve Knight. Although Dion specifically would be a bad fit, an overpaid veteran and a second rounder would be a nice return for Knight.

Maybe if there was a FA worth chasing this off season. No real reason to give up an asset to dump salary considering how crappy the FA class is about to be.

Miami, Portland, and Orlando are in the luxury atm. Maybe they're trying to dump someone to avoid the tax.

FA 2020 looks like ass but there are decent names in the trade market. Like Paul, Adams, Drummond, and D' Angelo Russell. Teams could shed some cap by taking one of the Cavs' expiring and then have more room for one of those guys.

We've signed Matt Mooney to a 2 way contract.
23 year old, 6'2 pg averaged 13-3-5 in G league for Memphis.
