2019-20 Cavaliers Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Herbie has a lot of the same sources and says basically the opposite about sports restarting....interesting.

I don't understand, why he's catching so much flack from people. He made an honest opinion and I could see,why he made it.

It's not like he pull it out of his ass. He's looking at the situation now and it's not looking so good so far.

Interesting comment update on the "sports restart" from emueagles, as well as parent comments and thread:

From google, it looks like, while the practice games are halted, and that there indeed were 3 positive tests on that Japan team, their league is still going to try to start in a month.

South Korea and Japan have both been extreme outliers in all of this for many reasons, though.

Japan is testing at a fraction of what we are.

Turn out the lights the party over???

The NBA suspended its season mid-March after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. A timetable to return isn’t clear as the world deals with the coronavirus pandemic. On Friday, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst shared the latest school of thought from the league’s inner circle, noting there is increased pessimism the NBA can resume the 2019-20 campaign: “The talks between the players union and the league this week, I’ve talked to both sides of this issue, and it is clear that the NBA is angling to set up a deal that enables them to shut the season down.

In 1994 the MLB season was cancelled due to a players strike. There was no World Series, no champion at all. MLB even had a shortened season in 1995 when play finally resumed.
But this is different. Teams and players are not working out very well. It will be months before some regions of our country are back to normal. Even when we go back to work, I think large public gatherings will be frowned upon.
I think this season is over.

It still feels different being because of force majeure rather than by the decisions of individuals to strike.

Not to mention that was only one sport that was out, when we could be looking at 3 major sports + NHL + other sports out here.

The Windy headline still appears to be clickbait/misleading from the article, but let's see what comes of the commissioners' conference call with the White House today.

if they cancel the season can they justify keeping the draft order as is... I feel they cant. Would be unfair that teams were playing their way out of a high pick for nothing

I am not understanding your post? Are you saying they shouldn't have a lottery and everyone should pick at their rank or are you talking about teams not in the lottery?

I’m saying it’s unfair for New York to have better lottery odds than Milwaukee when Milwaukee was winning games for nothing. The common assumption is the lottery odds will stand as they currently are with Knicks, Cavs having best odds when teams like Bucks and lakers were winning games which in the end were meaningless

Idk, this is kind of a weird take.. I mean the NBA could say this and then rig the system so LA gets the first pick.. but I would call bullshit on it.. Nobody saw this coming, everyone took thier tack.. Now we are here, why would you redo the rules?

Especially as a Cavs fan, hey we are a lottery team, and we friggin earned it..

I’m just saying I can’t see how they justify it... obviously I would prefer they just lock us into the 29th spot but if this happened in 2017 (and say we owned our own first) I would be pissed. The rules change when the season didn’t play out as stated before the season started. We earned our lottery position but other teams earned the right to play for a championship so all the rules go out the window if you cancel the season imo
