2019-20 Roster Construction

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you're trying to acquire an overpaid 25 year old center, you are better off going with Steven Adams as OKC is basically desperate to shed cash...

They'd probably just give him away. Houston won't be just giving away Capela.
Agreed, but neither of these guys does anything for us.

I'd rather we target a center in next year's draft (as well as a defensive wing.)

Sure, I agree. I'm just saying, if you're after such a thing, Adams would be a salary dump situation likely attached to an asset depending who is sent back.

Capela wouldn't be, so there's no reason to even kick the tires there.

Clint Capela isn't overpaid. I agree that Steven Adams should be more gettable and OKC has more options to replace him than HOU does with Capela.

Houston apparently wants to trade Clint. They are trying very hard to get a 3rd star in Houston and will likely use Clint as a center piece of a trade. Clint is a very good defensive anchor. Tyson Chandler like with better shot blocking. Would be a great get to have him as the defensive anchor with a Garland - Sexton backcourt.

Jazz built their roster mainly through the draft and developing guys... its possible in a small market. Need patience, smart drafting and a good coaching group

So far i think we are doing both. Time will tell

I would really like to trade for Clint Capela. His contract is not too bad. HOU is willing to deal him to help make a run at Jimmy Butler. He's a young, athletic, rim running defensive big. I like his fit next to Kevin Love and I especially like him anchoring our defense with Garland running PG. We're not a FA destination and it's not likely that we would be able to land a player like Capela who is a borderline All Star that's locked up for 4 more years. It makes a lot of sense to me to pursue this trade. I think HOU might be willing to do it. Capela is their most tradable asset. I could see them maing a deal like this for Capela and sending Eric Gordon to IND into their cap space to make room for Jimmy Butler. I think they want t do an opt in and trade scenario for Jimmy Butler like they did for CP3. If that's the case then Eric Gordon might have o go to Philly which I'm sure they'd welcome.

3 Team Trade. We get Clint, Houston gets Contract + 1st, Third team gets JR.

Depending on the team giving us the first I would prefer Clint who is proven and provides with the defensive anchor we are going to need with a Sexton - Garland backcourt.

Houston is shopping him for salary relief and a pick. Taking back money doesn’t help them.

It’s not a fit for us right now.

So did the Spurs, Blazers, Bucks, & Raptors. It’s absolutely possible. Smart drafting and patience are essential. Cleveland will never be an attractive place for free agents to come, so we really have no choice but to build through the draft.

how soon before the Cavs get to the playoffs again ? 2 years ?
