2019-20 Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think even the biggest Buckeye fans saw this one coming..
1st of 3 major non conference challenges this season. If they perform in a similar fashion vs North Carolina & Kentucky, look out!

Well, the Buckeyes are doing it again.... This might be a very special season.

Yeah so... we’re really good folks.

Really, really excited about the potential of this team.

That being said, I don't know if I've ever seen a worse UNC team.

Having multiple capable ball handlers is a huge plus this year. Team is much deeper as well as more athletic than recent teams.

This is true but these stats are still pretty cool, per 11W.
  • North Carolina shot its lowest field-goal percentage (27.4) in a single game in Dean E. Smith Center history.
  • Ohio State’s plus-23 margin in the second half was the largest by any North Carolina opponent in Dean E. Smith Center history.
  • North Carolina’s 49 points were the third-fewest it has ever scored.
  • Ohio State’s 25-point win was the second-largest margin of victory by a visiting team in Dean E. Smith Center history.

We are also currently the 2nd ranked team overall in KenPom barely behind Louisville with the 2nd highest defensive rating behind Virginia.

Strap in folks. We've got an excellent team on our hands this year.

This is crazy. As others have mentioned, it's kinda ridiculous that Ohio State moved on from Meyer and Matta, two men who are among highest echelon of our athletic department's entire history, only to see both teams get better.

I do not really follow college basketball, but I may have to pay more attention now because this team has a real shot at putting together a special season. It's not championship or bust like our football team, but I've always craved for Ohio State to be a consistently elite basketball school. We haven't won the tourney since the 60s, we are overdue for a title run. Would love to win in both football and basketball, is it too late to get Florida in the playoff this year just to get revenge in there too?

They just seemed really balanced; absolutely love the ball movement albeit a ton of passes ended up in the third row. UNC homecourt is no joke so it was kind of fantastic to see the defensive resliancy in response to the high volume of turnovers.

Hilarious Roy Williams was just yanking guys because he was getting so pissed.

And all of that is with a nearly 5 minute scoreless stretch to end the 1st half because they were throwing passes to anybody and everybody not wearing scarlet and gray.

Liddell is the key guy for them in my opinion. If he can get his own in the post from time to time and alter shots with his athleticism on the other end, he can push them from really good to great. I'm not the biggest Kaleb Wesson fan, so another big body that can positively contribute along with Young would be huge.

Ohio State should have been number 1 but whatever.

I prefer the committee in CFB because they are willing to just totally rework the rankings based on evidence. The AP is just full of absolute idiots who stick to their initial thoughts way too long mostly because they don't actually watch any of this shit.

But here is Penn State, closing in on a Win over Maryland. And there's Louisville, closing in on a loss.

Well losing sucked but still a talented team with a potentially great tourney run in them.

Another big win for the program tonight - took down #6 Kentucky 71-65 in Vegas.

Outside of that hiccup against Minnesota, this team has been extremely impressive.

I wouldn't be surprised if the loss was good news for the team. You keeping winning and you can overhype yourself in your head. Get the reality check against Minny and bounce back against Kentucky, beautiful!
