The Nuggets are a good team to watch when they are hitting.
As I continue to lose faith in the Cavs, I've clung to the Nuggets.

Good enough to enjoy, but not so good that I'd be a front runner :chuckle:

At the beginning of a rebuild? Pointless. Absurd even. At the end of a rebuild? Hell yes.

Why does it matter what stage we are at in the rebuild? Taking that sort of risk is what can change the tide of your rebuild. What's his trade value looking like right now? It's not like there's a timeline on our rebuild. This team has no direction as evident by our redundant and inexplicable drafting recently.

If he's only going to be healthy for a few years, what good are worse lottery odds? You end building a team and ending up with pieces and parts when he falls apart. Now you're back rebuilding again.

Where would we be right now with MPJ instead of Colin Sexton? If everything was the same and we just switched out those two players where would we be? We'd have Garland/KPJ/MPJ and a top 5 pick coming this year. We could flip MPJ if we're gonna play scared about his injuries and still get more value than Colin Sexton would in a trade today.

It's about value. MPJ is showing his value. Both on the court and as a trade chip. If we're making moves scared about that move resetting the rebuild then the people in charge don't know what the hell they are doing.

No it's not. I'm simply saying that we need to draft players who's value has greater potential to increase. This idea that a team as poorly run as The Cavs needs to avoid taking risk in fear of messing up or setting back a rebuild is laughable. This organization has not proven to have the ability to build a competitive team without LeBron James. They are in no position to be cautious about taking a risk. There is nothing for them to lose.

What can they lose? Years on a rebuild? They haven't shown the ability to even build a competitive team without LeBron anyway. Take the risk and acquire the players who have a greater chance to increase and maximize their value. If that means taking a player with injury concerns over a lower ceiling player then you do that. If it means trading a young player before they peak in hopes of recouping even more value then they should do that too. I don't wanna hear anything about playing it safe though. Shitty teams are in no position to pitch that garbage to their fans.

You also can't just assume MPJ gives you 4-5 years only... That's ludicrous.

He's healthy as an ox currently.

Jazz/Nuggets has been a great game

Big shots by both teams and a phenomenal individual performance from Mitchell

Jamal Murray with a big "fuck you" 4th quarter/OT

We cut this luwawu-carrot sticks guy in preseason didn’t we

Yay, MPJ, Garland; the worst rookie in the league last year, and KPJ. Also, MPJ wouldn't be playing right now if that were the case.

I've actually enjoyed watching Sexton progress and grow. His scoring efficiency is already elite. He's played in every game up to this point in his career. And I'm always willing to bet on dudes with relentless work ethic.

He was medically red flagged by a lot of organizations. And being fair, I have the same reservations about Zion as well.

I don’t watch much NBA outside of the Cavs and an occasional LeBron game...catching some of playoffs night 1. First time I’ve watched Luka live. Seems like he has many tools to score...but are his feet always this slow? Seems like the Clippers are just allowing him to have his layups because they are trading 3s for 2s but he seems like an extremely poor defender. People just blow right by him. Is that always the case on the defensive side?

I thought after he hurt his ankle or leg at the beginning of the game that he favored it through the rest of the game. I don't know though maybe that was just my observation.

He’s slow but it doesn’t matter. In many ways his driving is like old man LeBron’s or even Kawhi’s. They don’t need to blow by you. They are big and strong enough, and have enough of a first step, to muscle their way in the paint and then finish. Though he isn’t ever going to rise up and jam it in traffic like those guys can. But unlike those two, Doncic also has a lot of Harden in his game. Lots of craft, step backs, and fakes to draw fouls. His handle is incredibly tight too for a guy his size. And like LeBron and Harden his elite passing means sending help towards him is death for the defense. Like Luka’s passing is special - as good as anyone I’ve seen and up there with the Magic and Kidd types.

As for his defense, it’s pretty much always terrible. It’s not just that he is slow-footed, it’s also a lack of consistent effort. He’s still big so he will never be as bad as a poor point guard defender like Lillard or lazy Kyrie. But man if he wants to be the best player in the world, which he can absolutely be one day, he has to get a lot better on defense. You can’t be the best player in the world and be the target of the other team on every possession.
