You might be right, but they said the same about Lebron at 6'8 270lbs

Look at the builds. Zion is explosive like Derrick Rose and built like a defensive tackle. That's not going to end well. Blake was skinny and the same explosion destroyed his knees. Rose was under 200 pounds and his knees got wrecked. Zions body type just isn't made to last with the pressure it will put on his knees. Hopefully he proves me wrong but he's already had injury problems at Summer League and before the season started.

Also 6-6 285 can't be compared to 6-8 240 at the same age. I've never seen a player built like Zion that's as explosive as DRose. Zion is one of a kind. But you can't tell me you don't see the damage that his explosion mixed with his weight will cause on his knees.

LeBron wasn't 270 when he first came into the league. Zion is listed at 285, but I really doubt he weighs 285. He was listed at 285 at Duke and he looks much bigger now. I would bet he's 300+ at the moment. He's also only 19 years old so it'll be a battle for him to not gain more weight going forward.

Wow. 6'7" and 300+ pounds is not a basketball body, flat out.

That Zion kid needs to take up some sort of sporting activity to get himself in shape. Something with some running in maybe?? amirite? :chuckle:

For those that responded, I get what you guys see, and no, LeBron was easy 250+ by rookie year, but yeas he might be the best conditioned NBA player in history the way he takes care of his body.

But you don't know until his career happens, there is a chance of chronic knee issues for sure, size, explosiveness, etc. and it doesn't help his career started with one, but Barkley was fat and explosive too and he was able to play relatively healthy and long career, you just never know, I hate to put that albatross on the young man before we know for sure.

It's funny how time kinda of re-shapes our memory though.

Barkley was seen as an anomaly at his size, but entering NBA he was listed at 6'5" and 250 lbs.

But even he was much leaner, IMO. And less explosion although Barkley could definitely elevate. But you are still talking about a guy in Zion who is more explosive, an inch taller, and probably 50 lbs heavier. Just doesn't seem like a great recipe....

Interesting the Clippers are putting feelers out for Andre Drummond and Stephen Adams. They want to increase their defensive presence at center.

Surprisingly, they have some flexibility based on contracts they have. Moe Harkless is a nice $11M expiring deal. Zubac is on a long-term deal and making around $6M. All it takes is a Landry Shamet, Jamychal Green, or even Motrez Harrell (doubt they'd trade him)....but they have the salaries to match. Just depends on how creative they can get......they're very limited in draft picks after acquiring Paul George.

Sure but he's already missed half the season with a knee injury (torn right meniscus). You can still play great after meniscus injury: see Chris Paul but I'd argue Paul definitely lost 1/2 step after that surgery (he was Ja Morant like quick before). In addition, the meniscus doesn't grow back and you don't really repair: it's removed.
Now you have a guy like Zion who is like two Chris Pauls in a frame that is 8 inches taller and that explosion and I would be surprised if he doesn't have a Blake Griffith type of career.

I mentioned he has already started his career with one, and I don't disagree with anything you said, i just saying sometimes you never know and I hate to put this on the kid in his first year even though its a very real possibility. Very tall players have foot pproblems, but we dont seem to be constantly talking about it with Prtzingis who has had knee inuries, but no foot injuries which is typical of a 7'3+ player.

I think a lot of people were worried about it and Porzingis is unfortunately is looking like a poster child of the concerns with these ultra tall players. One certainly hopes that Zion doesn't go the same way. Blake had what 5-6 years of elite production? that would be about the same bet as with Zion. Same type of explosion both started out of the gate with a knee injury.

One bright spot is that Zion's jumper looks much better then Griffin's so he won't hopefully feel the need to overdue and load management wasn't really a thing back then either.

Those East all-star starters. Man that's a big lack of talent lol.

No way Jimmy Butler shouldn't be starting ahead of Trae Young though.

Got to be unprecedented for the worst team in the conference to have an All-Star starter, right? Pretty wild. They'll have to make more changes to the selection process.

And the East will win.....basically guaranteed, if not cover.

Wait, are they picking the teams again and those are just the 10 guys voted in the by the fans?

Yes, this won't be a West vs East, thy just chose the top 10 for the "draft".

Btw, is it me or it's insane that NBA has Zion on the "just missed the cut" of the top 5 on the rookie rankings AFTER ONE GAME? It's just stupid
