Lebron is lucky to have Davis. He is like 10 levels above Love.

Crazy to think Kyrie will be by far the worst 2nd option LeBron has won a title with, in terms of total body of work - although individual-season performance puts his title season close with starting-to-decline-Wade in 2013.

Those Lebron/KI/Love teams were maybe his best overall teams particularly sadly the last 2 years with Irving. That team that lost to Durant was one of the greatest offensive teams I've ever seen

OTOH how sad it remains that Lebron left in the first place. Kobe landed with Shaq, Riley got Wade Shaq, Magic had Kareem, Bird had parrish/mchale, Jordan finally got Pippen/Grant. We find a way to lose Loozer and that was ball game for the Cavs

I don't know man.

I always go back to this but the year prior (09-10) there's a real good case to be made Dwayne Wade was the 2nd best player in basketball that season.

The first year LeBron joined, Wade was still really, really good. Maybe not as good as Davis is now. But....not far off. I think people just remember they didn't fit perfectly together. But Wade was a beast that 1st year. And he tried to carry LeBron in the Finals.

When you combine fit and talent Davis is a much better match for LBJ. Possibly the best defensive big man in the league with top multi-level offensive skills so he can leave the paint open is ideal for Lebron. Plus Wade was beginning his sharp decline in 2010-11. Put it this way - Davis is the first player in Lebron’s career where there’s even a shadow of a hint of a doubt who the most valuable player on the team is

Lebron has now been the best player on 10 Finals teams out of 17 total seasons in the league, insane! The 2003-2010 Cleveland front office is the only force to ever stop him!

Curry per-100 in playoffs: 34.8 points (.45/.40/.91 shooting), 8.3 assists, 4.6 turnovers

Harden per-100 in playoffs: 33.5 points (.43/.33/.87 shooting), 8.3 assists, 4.9 turnovers

LeBron per-100 in playoffs: 37.2 points (.49/.33/.74 shooting), 9.3 assists, 4.7 turnovers

Jokic per-100 in playoffs: 33.5 points (.51/.42/.84 shooting), 9.3 assists, 4.0 turnovers

Murray per-100 in playoffs: 32.7 points (.47/.41/.90 shooting), 7.8 assists, 3.1 turnovers

Well, one player might be just as good a "fit" in terms of making both players better, given how the Cavs player did so much worse without him in terms of making a team win...even if the "running mates" didn't get along:

The wildest thing to me is that LeBron, after three rounds, has only played 40 mpg or more twice in these playoffs. In 2018 he averaged 42 mpg for the entire playoffs. Somehow the Lakers have put together a team that not only doesn’t completely collapse when LeBron sits, but can actually increase/build leads while he sits. He’s only gone super saiyan a few times in these playoffs.

If we didn't get backstabbed by Loozer and didn't do the welsh and Pavlovic deals
We would have had Z, Boozer, Lebron, Fernandez and Dudley. Better star players and better role players - just fucking brutal. I think the title takes away the pain but Paxson's ineptitude remains one of the most staggering failures in NBA history.

I mean, while it pissed me off, it’s hard for me to be mad at Boozer. Be mad at the incompetent FO that thought they’d save a few dollars on his next contract by letting him become a free agent early. He was still under contract for another year and would’ve been and RFA after that. We let him become unrestricted and Utah offered him a shit load of money.

I get it but the man clearly operated in bad faith. The Cavs wanted to do him right and get him on a more worthy deal and then he backstabbed them.
I'm a pro player guy as seen in my posting: I don't resent at Lebron at all for choosing the franchises he wanted to play for (outside of the theatrics of the Decision which was and still is in poor taste and mark on his record) but you don't go to a team ask them to do you a favor and then turn around screw them over. Was he in his "rights" to do so obviously he did and it was in the rules but this is different than just the regular FA stuff that goes on.

Honestly, with the title and the drama of the great Lebron second teams (and they were great they just ran into bad injury luck and an absurd GS team), it's just forgotten how much Loozer screwed the Cavs. Lebron's first stint basically was destined for failure: you can't lose a young future all star for nothing when you are about to have Lebron become so good so fast that you're team will never see the lottery no matter how bad the supporting cast

Lakers are still 16 points per 100 better with LeBron on the court in the playoffs this year. For most players that would be considered off the charts, but for LeBron it's actually less extreme than we're accustomed to :chuckle:

As much as I dislike the guy, I have to give him credit. Somehow after winning 5 titles as a coach, Riley is even better in the front office. He’s had Miami in the Finals with three completely different teams in the last 15 years. 5 years after LeBron left and they gutted the team, they’re back again. If I’m any FA, it’s hard to load at what Spo and Riley have done and not be incredibly impressed.

Barring Milwaukee making some massive change, Giannis will wind up in Dallas or Miami. To me Miami is more appealing, because the thought of watching Butler, Giannis, and Bam in the front court defensively is a bit terrifying.

Nothing beats game 3 in the 2017 finals when LeBron was a +7 in 46 minutes and the Warriors won by 5:chuckle: It felt like we could rarely ever afford for him to get even a few minutes on the bench.

Even though the front office was clearly a lot better the second time around, I feel like they left a potential championship on the table by not developing even one more good supporting player (talking about before the catastrophic Kyrie trade which was its own disaster). The lack of support was comical at times, except not really so funny when you were living through it.
