2019/2020 Roster

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Considering how the draft went we are going to let Nwaba walk right? Gotta find minutes for Garland/Sexton/Porter/Windler along with the vets we have Knight and Clarkson. No reason to bring Nwaba back I don't think. With 2 roster spots I am guessing we look for a 3rd string Center and maybe a SF.

Also we are not bringing Jarron Blossomgame back.

I like nwaba

So do I but where are we going to play him? We have to develop Sexton and Garland at the very least so one will soak up SG Minutes. We also need to develop KPJ and Windler. We can't develop everyone when they are all expected to take up minutes at the same positions.

Play him at the 3

Windler and Porter are gonna be soaking up minutes at SF as well as Cedi. Unless they don't plan on developing the guys they just picked last night. Where are the minutes for Nwaba at this point?

Actually there will be minutes at the SG spot.
Neither of the PG's are logging entire games there.

No they won't. Both Porter and Windler need development and both will play SG. Got 48 Minutes to divide up. Say you want 20 MPG for Porter, 20 MPG for Windler, Clarkson still gonna get his minutes so we can showcase him for deadline, Knight still here and will get minutes. There just isn't any logical justification for either side for a reunion.

Thompson has to start at C to body the Centers and clean up the messes that these young guards are gonna create on offense with his good board play

Will he stay healthy? Nope. Will he play hard? Who knows. he’s an expiring so maybe he wants to earn the next deal and his way in to a contending squad at the deadline.

Garland - can create own shot. 3 PT threat.
Sexton - can create own shot. 40% 3PT
Cedi - 35% 3PT. Transition threat.
Love - 37% 3 PT. Occasional post up. Outlet passing.
TT - blackhole/garbage man

Delly
Clarkson
Winnie
Nance
Zizic

I hope that Nance jumper is coming around, because the team needs it badly.

I hope Belein takes advantage of Cedi and Love’s top notch vision and passing ability. Could be fun to watch the mythical motion offense for once

My first impression about the current lineup is it would be brutal on the defensive end... Hope I am wrong, but most of the players are defensively challenged

Windler might take some time to adjust to the NBA speed and 3 point line. He might not be ready for many minutes to start out. I could see him spending time in the g-league.

When players are 3 or 4 year college players, you can look at their freshman year and see what to expect from them their rookie year. Windler shot 23.9% from 3 as a freshman and player 18 minutes while scoring 4.3 points.

We are in the business of tanking we invested in these kids. We need to give them playing time to figure out what they have. To develop you need to play. If we just let Windler (Someone we value more then 5 Million + 4 2nd round picks) or Kevin Porter Jr. (Someone we paid 5 Million + 4 2nd round picks to acquire) rot on the end of the bench it defeats the purpose of developing them. We need to give minutes to Sexton, Garland, Clarkson, Windler, Porter Jr, then guys like Knight or Delly might get minutes as well. At SF we have Cedi Osman and in small ball lineups Windler and Porter Jr will likely see minutes there. Yes GLeague exists and they will likely spend some time in the GLeague throughout the year. But bringing Nwaba back just doesn't make sense for his development or for us to continue developing him. If the team thought highly of Nwaba we wouldn't have drafted another PG (forcing small ball lineups), and two Wings. I like Nwaba and think he has upside I just don't know where he fits now. Beilein wants knock down shooters as evidenced by taking 3 guys who shot 40 percent or better last season.

Don’t forget about Stauskas, I’m sure he’ll be re-signed. I’m still expecting Love to get moved by the deadline. He just doesn’t fit the rebuild/tanking

Im all for this but sometimes guys need a year of practice and G-league to make the jump. I think Windler could fall into that category. Joe Harris looked completely lost when he got minutes with the Cavs his first year and really didn't get a chance because of his injury in his second year. Guys like Windler might take multiple years before you know what you have, they need to be patient.

As for Nwaba, if they can get him on a cheap deal, he is worth bring back. He is able to play SG, SF, and PF. Also the team needs small contract of players they are willing to give up to make trades work. If he wants anything more than a 2+1 with a team option, I would let him walk. He is a good fill in player when injuries happen and he could have enough trade value that a team wouldn't mind taking him on with another player to make salaries work.

I have to hope there is a market for Delly on a playoff contender. Even a player for player swap for a frontcourt player would lessen the jam in the backcourt.
