2019/2020 Roster

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have to hope there is a market for Delly on a playoff contender. Even a player for player swap for a frontcourt player would lessen the jam in the backcourt.

Delly only has value here or as an expiring. No one wants him as a playoff player.

Don’t forget about Stauskas, I’m sure he’ll be re-signed. I’m still expecting Love to get moved by the deadline. He just doesn’t fit the rebuild/tanking

We just drafted Stauskas replacement. Only 1 white shooter per team.

I think we should bring back Nwaba, we will need his defense badly. I also doubt Porter is going to play all games and average over 15mins a game in year 1... he seems very raw.

Nah just let him expire at the end of the year. No need to take on a bad contract.

We aren't attracting any free agents anytime soon. Next year's free agent class isn't that good either. We should be flipping contracts for assets until we have a playoff team. Letting a contract the size of TT's expire just hurt the teams ability to take on more salary in the future. I think Koby and Gilbert's plan has always been to hover right below the luxury tax line and take on back contracts for assets to rebuild. Expiring contracts are use it or lose it.

We could absolutely attracted free agents. We’ll have max money next year if we let everyone expire. We won’t get a tier 1 star who can call their shot but they’re will be 2nd tier guys who would chase the money. There’s always those guys. Could always make a run at an RFA like jaylen brown

pg garland
sg sexton
sf cedi/porter
pf Love
c nance

With that right there the Cavs should be running teams to death! I wish nance could get a decent 3 ball because we are gonna need an athletic center for our up-tempo offense.

Considering how the draft went we are going to let Nwaba walk right? Gotta find minutes for Garland/Sexton/Porter/Windler along with the vets we have Knight and Clarkson. No reason to bring Nwaba back I don't think. With 2 roster spots I am guessing we look for a 3rd string Center and maybe a SF.

Also we are not bringing Jarron Blossomgame back.
Nwaba is an effort player and we can match contract offers. Assuming he doesn't get a ridiculous offer sheet, you keep him. Remember that Nwaba logged most of his games at SF, no SG. He is basically Cedi's backup. He's also played some PF. Nwaba is just very flexible.

And a hustle guy like Nwaba on a low cost contract always has some value in trade. Plus this team likes hard workers. Nwaba is a great work ethic guy to be on the team.

I think we extend the offer sheet and match any offer. I suspect the Cavs will attempt to sign him to a longer term 3 year deal.

Should we?

The thing about all of the expirings is that they create cap space and cap space can be used to take on bad contracts. If everything expires, the Cavs will have $40M+ in cap space. That's enough to provide a lot of teams with INSTANT cap relief.

The value for our ending contracts is if playoff teams want players and are willing to pay a higher price to take them. Can certainly help to clear cap for a team too. The Cavs always have to weigh if the return is worthwhile.

I think a couple of the endings WILL get traded, but not all.

Tristan may be the least likely to get traded due to his leadership and championship experience. I suspect that the Cavs will want a really good offer to part with Tristan.

You also never know if those ending contracts could come in handy for a sign and trade this year. That hinges on a player wanting to come here and a cooperative team - like a David Griffin liking Tristan Thompson as a vet and convincing Julius Randle to do a S&T. Not likely, but there may be a few options out there as well

There are all kinds of crazy things that can happen - and the Cavs have a lot of flexibility.

Should be interesting to see sexton and garland streaking down court and loves outlet passing

It wouldn’t not take a good offer to get tt. At all. We’d trade him for nothing if we could.

As it stands right this second the Cavs definitely need a trade or two to balance the roster.

They have like five bigs and six guards who all want to play, but only 3 wings with two of those being rookies.

I would probably start...

Garland/Sexton/Osman/Nance/Love if the season began today.
