2019/2020 Roster

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hope we make it happen...that would be awesome. Played really well at the world cup with per-40 averages of 18 points, 12.5 boards, and 3.2 assists. Highlights:

He genuinely looks pretty good. Was he getting burnt in the pick and roll? Legs look good. He has added to his offensive game and looks like a better passer than ever. Wonder why he hasn't gotten another look in the NBA.

Lack of vertical athleticism would be the big knock against him, I imagine. No blocks and no dunks in the whole tournament, which is crazy. Fantastically crafty though, still has quick feet, and makes up for his lack of elevation with a really quick release on those hooks and floaters. Just 2 turnovers in 5 games. I think Zizic could learn a lot from him on defense, and Nance could learn how to leverage his ballhandling/passing ability without slowing down the offense.

Yeah both of those things really stood out. His footwork was killer out there. His teardrop looks awesome and yeah his passing in the flow is insane and was something he had really started to perfect when he got hurt.

Yeah, his vertical was never very good and he rarely dunked when he was 100%. Isn't stuff like starting and stopping most affected by this injury? HE looks like he has no problem with that now. He could not stay with anyone in 2016.

Can't believe he is 37.

Would rather bring Varejao in as a coach, not a player, and I love the guy.

Even if he's just as good as he was a few years ago, which I doubt he is right now, I wouldn't want a 37 year old stealing minutes from young guys like Nance and Zizic, and potential trade chips like TT and Henson.

Would it be any different from signing Frye last year? The gripe about potentially taking minutes from other bigs is fair, but Frye was pretty unobtrusive in cobbling together 341 total minutes in his retirement tour, and I imagine Andy would be a similar story.

I also think it's very possible that he's just as good now as he was a few years ago. The quickness he's gotten back by putting a couple more years between himself and that torn Achilles appears to have roughly offset whatever athleticism he's lost as a result of age. Of course, that's said with the understanding that post-injury Andy was never more than a fringe rotation player.

We're like the dumb guys who don't know their team. We used to say Smith is the starter! Love is the starter! Now we need to get into the details. Larry Nance should be setting screens. Love should be shooting threes. (Coming off pin downs) Cedi should be traded lol jk. Sir'Dom Pointer I also agree with how is Dean Wade like Myson Plumlee. Plumlee is an athletic big. Wade is an unathletic(by my standards) stretch 3-4.

I think we have plenty of guards that can handle the ball. Garland, Sexton, Delly, that 30th pick...

What we need is Dikembe Mutumbo. An athletic big that gets all the rebounds. Like Mason Plumlee.

Garland will surprise people.
Sexton will be better.
Love will be Love.

Plumlee was outside the top-20 in TRB% last season and behind Larry Nance, Kevin Love's rate before injury, Tristan Thompson, tied with Zizic, and is slightly behind Henson's career averages.

Don't see what adding him would do for our rebounding when he'd be be our fourth best rebounder at best, and sixth best at worst. I do agree that we need to add a nice defensive pivot guy though, especially since I don't see Thompson nor Henson on the team on March 1st.

Questions are -do the cavs take on salary in order to get a draft pick with expiring contacts? who of the expirings are willing to take a salary cut and who do the cavs let walk?

Delly, Knight, TT, Henson, Clarkson

they'll trade TT, Henson and Clarkson. Let Delly and Knight walk imo mainly because Knight will be very hard to trade

Another reason Delly could be gone is the BPA when the cavs draft could be another PG. A lot of PGS projected to go high in the 2020 draft.

I think Knight will be closer to his old self this year and I think the Cavs kept his minutes down last season to make sure he stayed healthy. I think he is a player that gets traded to a team that needs a backup PG and want to clear cap space. While I think Clarkson get moved to a team that needs a sixth man.

I think Delly could get moved for a salary dump especially if the front office feel like the coaches are doing their job and the team can live without his veterans leadership for the back half of the season.

TRB% - Total Rebound Percentage (available since the 1970-71 season in the NBA); the formula is 100 * (TRB * (Tm MP / 5)) / (MP * (Tm TRB + Opp TRB)).

What is the (Tm MP / 5)?

yes

LOL the Cavs aren't drafting a point guard.

I also agree except for the Delly getting traded part.

What role do you think Knight plays? I look over and over this roster and he just increasingly looks like the odd man out. Even off the bench we have Delly, Clarkson, and KPJ who all handle the ball. Delly is great off the ball, so sure, but I don't see a slot for Brandon at all. He isn't a great catch and shoot guy, and he isn't a defender. That slot is already overfilled.

Clarkson played some 3 last year, so I guess we could see Delly, Knight and Clarkson but that would be not my favorite option.

I swear to God if I ever see Beilein run Clarkson at the 3, I'll never watch another Cavs game.
