2019/2020 Roster

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, would be hard to justify ever giving him minutes over Wade, who's already on the team and arguably has more potential to develop into a handy roleplayer.

Best case for Wade is lesser Ryan Anderson. Maten is a better athlete and has some defensive upside. Neither will ever be a guy who gets over 20 MPG. But both have the potential to provide something but are both likely Gleague fodder who gets a taste of the NBA before sliding into post basketball careers or Europe.

I dunno if lesser Ryan Anderson is the right comp. Lesser shooter, for sure, but he has a more well-rounded offensive game, and he should be a competent, if unremarkable, defender at the PF position.

More like Maxi Kleber with worse defense and athleticism. So basically not Maxi Kleber I guess.

His main role if he ever gets playing time will be stretching the floor. He may be a little better in some aspects but he's worse at the primary function of his role. I don't see a NBA future for Wade and Anderson has some how lasted 10+ years.

It's important to realize that he went undrafted because he had multiple foot injuries his senior season, not because he lacks NBA-level talent. He doesn't have a single obvious strength like Anderson, but he also doesn't have any serious weaknesses. If he stays healthy, which is unlikely but possible, he'll probably develop into a fine roleplayer.

With 13 players under contract and 2 2-way layers the Cavs are at 129.9 M in total salaries. Think they stay under the tax level both in picking up a 14th player and in future trades for our expiring contracts.

One tidbit -but doubt it has to be paid.

  • John Henson: Has an extra $250,000 for appearing in 60 games and an additional $500,000 for 75 games, according to Bobby Marks.
  • John Henson: There's an additional $4,000,000 in potential incentive compensation, HoopsHype has learned.

It will be interesting if he gets traded to make sure he doesn't hit those marks.

Meh. Not impressed with adding a guy with no future here for a season. Will likely steal developmental minutes from KPJ and Windler (When he comes back). Sad times.

Since we claimed him off waivers, I think we now have bird rights and the ability to make if a restricted free agent if we want.

If the plan is to keep both Sexton and Garland, we should really fill the SG and SF spots up with wings.

I was more so referencing his age not his contract situation. He's already 27. His age doesn't fit the time line.
