2019 Around the MLB

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ned Yost has announced his retirement.

Cardinals are making it interesting down the stretch. Brewers have closed the NL Central gap to 1 game

Trivia: (Apologies for shitty wording)

The 2019 Houston Astros were the first team to go an entire season without registering an instance of this team pitching stat (kept since 1955). That is, the team registered a 0 for the stat for the entire season. What is the stat?

Intentional Base on Balls

Intentionally putting someone on base is rarely the right move, and it is a very overused tactic. The Astros also only has 9 sac bunts all year. They are very analytically driven, and it's cool that Hinch is on board as well.

The Indians had 38, with 7 of them coming from our 2 hole hitter, Oscar Mercado. We also issued 19 intentional free passes this year.

I think the LDS matchup I am most looking forward to is Twins vs. Yankees. Their lineups each pack a ton of punch and their rotations are inconsistent. The key to the series, imo, will be the Yankees starters giving them 4-5 quality innings. We'll probably see Boone utilize his bullpen similar to Francona back in 2016.

Astros should sweep their way to a title.... Not doing so would be a disservice to excellence

I know you're just messing around, but the Astros aren't without their holes. Their bullpen is not deep at all, and they will have to rely on their starters to go deep into games.

Ausmus canned in LA.

Joe Maddon is a mortal lock to be managing the Angels next season.

You think he'd choose LA over San Diego and Philly? Assuming Kapler is out

Definitely. He was Sciocia's bench coach out there and is a big LA guy.

Cool ass dude and he's going to have a pretty good checkbook along with the league's best player.

Yeah somehow didn't know he was with the Angels for 30 years

For Trout's sake, it would be cool to see that team actually compete for once. Seems like they have systematic issues that go beyond a MLB manager's reach though.

They definitely do, Maddon is honestly a sign to me that they're trying to rectify that.

You can truly stand up organizational improvements at faster level than ever before. They only wait period is the farm system, but when you've got a checkbook like they do, it makes it a bit easier to bridge that gap.
