2019 Around the MLB

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Id hate to not see a WS winner for 2017, but it
may end up that way.
I think a multi million dollar fine, loss of many 1st and 2nd picks is definitely warranted.

Also, it’s not just the fact that they were stealing signs, but relaying it to players at bat in real time. Absurd
I imagine the last thing that baseball wants to do is take away that world series win, so ill put that in the maybe. But absolutely i think they will lose many draft picks, plus a huge fine. Or at least deserve to.

it will be curious what baseball ends up doing, may just ignore it?

I imagine we’ll see the league come down harshly with loss of draft picks and international money. We’ll probably also see an “unprecedented” fine, which will be nothing more than a drop in the bucket for a billionaire owner

After much thought I’ve come to “indefinite suspension” as to astros punishment
What the Astros have done is inexcusable and the league better drop the hammer. This isn't wink-wink stuff, it's an orchestrated organizational effort. Makes me even more angry the Tribe lost to these fooligans in 2018 and worse that Brantley chose to join those cheating bastards. Now MLB needs to get serious about how all their pitchers suddenly make spin rate gains after joining them; before this, i chalked it up to coaching and analytics but not anymore.

yes.

What could a pitcher do to increase their spin rate significantly? I certainly wouldnt write anything off.

Bauer was right before and I’d bet he wouldnt have spoken up if he didnt have some data given how obsessed he is with that very topic.

Also at what level does stealing signs become cheating at the MLB level? Is the line the electronic devices?

Using a foreign substance is the safe bet, and is what Bauer has alluded to. Whatever is happening, it also clearly travels. Charlie Morton continued to be a great pitcher this season after leaving, so I'm extremely curious to see what Cole does wherever he's at next year.

Yes, it's putting in equipment for the specific purpose of cheating and being able to relay that information in real time to the hitter. Anything that exceeds the 'human' element in that regard just can't happen.

Anything involving technology, including binoculars, in my opinion

Wow. If the mlb goes through with this and kills the Power here in Charleston, WV, it’ll get nasty around here.
not to mention a fun thing for the kids to do. Tix are less than $5 and it’s a fairy new/beautiful field.

@MadThinker88 as well!

Seems like the government is on MiLB’s side in this argument. The government does not like this proposal at all since it would cut thousands of jobs. I get that some of the teams targeted are in the red money wise, but maybe instead of cutting the teams, maybe find a way to help them using MLB revenue?

Also 42 seems like way too many at the end of the day in my opinion. There is 30 teams so that would be the max that could ever be cut. This in my mind shouldn’t be considered unless MLB expands and thus in the end only cutting 10-12 teams in the end, but that’s just my honest opinion

If you go on the Astros Reddit page, they act like they are the scapegoat of all this. They seem to be laughing it off.

Its all fun and games until someone loses an eye (or a team has 5 consecutive 1st round picks taken away starting in 2020)...

Fans victimizing themselves and their team after someone within the organization did something brutally stupid?

You don't say.....?
Oh I thought this was an MLB thread.

There you go on your high horse again.

Unbelievable.

Shameful.

While its comforting to know that batshit fan takes live on in other parts of the country, I'll just take a moment to enjoy another fan base embarrassing itself for once.
