OBJ was only being traded if the Giants got a package they were willing to move him for. I believe improving the offensive line was one of the things they demanded in that package.OBJ was going to be traded to someone regardless and no one was willing to give up more than Browns did for him anyways otherwise OBJ wouldn't be a Brown. i still feel the deal would have gone through and it was 2 or 3 days in between the deals being officially announced by the media and then like a week later, they modified the trade and got rid of part of the Zeitler-Vernon swap part. It is hard to believe that amount of time between deals announced in the media and between changes being made to it, that it was originally ever one deal.
I'm not contesting that it was originally one deal. But, rather that Dorsey felt comfortable making the Vernon/Zeitler deal on its own even if the OBJ part never materialized.
I still can't find where the discussion was about the initial ask from Gettleman, but I remember Bitonio was part of it and we balked at that.
