2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Where is this coming from? I haven't seen anything about them being out.

An article my Dad read. If you read our injured list, Ward, Ogunjobi, Garrett, Taylor, Avery are all out. I am guessing the list will be longer come game time.

So the first name on the questionable list on my news feed was Derrick Willies, which made me a little nervous... then it said Howard Wilson, Ricardo Louis and Rod Streater. So I guess this hadn't been updated since week 17 last year.

What about some things considered?

Antonio Callaway suspended 4 games for substance abuse. Ugh

Callaway is going to drug his way out of football. Dumbass.

I'd be fine with moving on, dedicating every last penny to re-sign Hollywood and just continue to get reclamation projects to fill out the bottom of the roster.

After Josh, I have very limited tolerance for this. I’d be fine cutting him if this is a new issue.

Let's all take a moment to step away from the ledge. Callaway screwed up, and when he was drafted many in the NFL thought this would be a reoccurring issue until he makes some deep personal changes.

However, this isn't 2013 and he isn't Josh Gordon. The Browns haven't built their offense around him. He makes less than a million per year through 2021. That's absolutely number 4 receiver money. Callaway is going to scrape through this season and probably won't return to his former role until the halfway point of the regular season. He made his mistake, now let's see how he responds to his mistake.

Cut from Florida for marijuana, credit-card fraud, combine failed test, last years arrest. One more chance is all he needs.

This hurts Calloway more than the Browns. They brought in a talented Strong, Willies has looked really good, and Ratley looks good. On top of that, Higgins has been looking like a legit #2 receiver, maybe even an ok #1, except we have 2 (not 1) pro-bowlers in front of Calloway.

On top of that we didn't put allot of draft stock into Calloway for the talent, but miss time as a receiver, and you could find yourself if not off the team, #5 or #6 on the depth chart.

I wish him luck, hope its only weed and not a more serious drug issue, but he could find himself off this team very quickly.

It's kind of a good thing this happen now instead of next year. Callaway will have to prove himself even more now to be trusted by the organization. I think if they went into next off-season with Higgins and Callaway not to far apart from each other in terms of production, they would have let Higgins walk. Now though, I think Higgins should be in better position to stay long term. He has done and said everything right since he has been here.
