2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Think about how dumb these guys look hitting a softball, then think about how difficult it is to hit a ball that’s actually thrown overhand.

Pretty easy explanation of why baseball is more difficult than football.

I don’t even think fielding fly and/or ground balls gets enough credit, either. Such a routine play and “boring” to the uninformed fan but imagine how easily you could fuck up 7/10 ground balls in s game and look like a jackass.

I think the vast majority of people could catch a fly ball before they could successfully block Myles Garrett 1 on 1, or defend Lebron in the post, or stop a Ronaldo penalty kick.

To be fair, you're comparing a routine play in baseball to a nearly impossible play in all those other sports. Maybe compare it to making a free throw.

I think more people would struggle with catching a routine fly ball off an MLB bat than making a free throw.

I can catch a routine ground ball or fly ball much more often than I can hit a free thrown.

Baseball is more difficult, football is more athletic and physical.

The conditioning in the two sports is so different... You have old fat guys hit 50 home runs (David Ortiz) and throw half-drunk perfect games (David Wells) but an NFL offensive lineman would beat me in a 40 yard dash on their worst day/my best day.

Meanwhile, I'd bet 98% of NFL players couldn't hit a 90 MPH fastball (save for the exceptions - Deion Sanders, Bo Jackson, Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray).

Apples and oranges.

I'm not a fan of the Jets offseason. I just can't get behind allocating that much money to the RB position. But hey, Quinnen Williams falling to them gives them a boost.

I feel like the Colts quietly had a really good offseason, stocking that team with depth and talent.

Even though I hate the Landon Collins signing, I like what Washington did in the offseason. They're absolutely screwed as an organization until Alex Smith's contract comes off the books, but they made some nice moves to make them watchable in the short term, and start building for the long term.

If they didn't both the Josh Rosen situation, I'd give Arizona the next best grade simply because they got Kyler Murray.

Yeah, I agree about Indianapolis; I think they’re a pretty formidable conference title contender, personally.

The AFC should be pretty interesting this year; all kinds of things to look out for: can Rosen do anything for Miami? Does Josh Allen continue to find unique ways to bring forth destruction to oxygen? Does Lamar Jackson discover how to consistently throw the football forward?

You could go on and on.

The AFC is 100% about Tom Brady vs Father Time. Is this the year he finally meets his nemeses?

Also, with KC and Tyreke Hill and how much time does he miss? I already think KC isn't as strong because their defense got a bit weaker in my opinion, They brought in a half dozen new starters and changing the defense. That usually doesnt work out year 1, but we will see.

How about the Chargers? Were they a fluke? Or is that defense going to remain that strong with some new and healthy pieces. I tend to think SD might be the favorite in the AFC because I am thinking the Pats are finally on the decline.
