2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
God dammit Callaway.

So much for him beating Hollywood for the #3 spot.

Wait, someone clear this up, please:

is this a new transgression by Calloway or is it based on the transgression from last year we already knew about? If it's the same transgression we knew about last year, why are we suddenly making a big deal out of this? We've known he did it for a full year, Dorsey was well aware of the situation, why are we treating this like a new fuck up, if it's just punishment for his original fuck up?

New transgression.

It's kind of a good thing this happen now instead of next year. Callaway will have to prove himself even more now to be trusted by the organization. I think if they went into next off-season with Higgins and Callaway not to far apart from each other in terms of production, they would have let Higgins walk. Now though, I think Higgins should be in better position to stay long term. He has done and said everything right since he has been here.

Honestly I think Higgins will get a low end #1 receiver money which will be too high for an at best #3 receiver. Higgins will be replaced by a draft pick with the hope that Calloway matures and stays out of trouble. Even so, we have resurrected Jalen Strong, others like Willies have looked good,. it wont be the end of the world if Higgins leaves for 8 million or more a year. I wish him well if it plays like that, which I am guessing it will.

He wasn't going to anyway. Higgins is the second best WR on the team.

I don't agree, Calloway has #1 talent, just a few years less in the league. But Dorsey is fantastic at finding WR talent, trading, drafting and free agent.

Lee I think you’re selling Higgins a little short but my WR assessment credibility died a while ago.

I think Higgins will show out in this system and with a full season with Mayfield.

I don't think I am, I am saying he has borderline #1, talent to the right team. I just don't think you realize how ridiculous our WR talent is this year.

The way Higgins has been playing and the rapport he has with Mayfield means he was probably going to be our WR3 regardless. And I think Higgins is a better football player than Landry too, and definitely has a higher ceiling because he's just a bigger guy.

Higgins reminds me of DeAndre Hopkins out there. And they actually have fairly similar profiles. College dominator, college YPR, and breakout age are all pretty similar. Hopkins has a better athletic profile (Higgins is bottom of the barrel in that regard), but I think we can all agree that Higgins doesn't look like a 5th percentile SPARQ-X guy when the pads are on. At any rate, Higgins is just a guy who goes and gets the fucking ball, just like Hopkins. He's not on Hopkins' level, but who is?

I would have disagreed with you a few months ago...but now, I’d agree.

Kind of hard to watch Higgins last night and not think he's a fantastic WR. The coaching staff even put him back on the field when Gilbert was out there and Gilbert instantly looked significantly better tossing the ball to Higgins.

I honestly don't have much sympathy for guys like Calloway, nor do I even have a particular wish that they succeed beyond whatever good their skills contribute.

The fact is, football rosters are a zero sum game. Every guy that makes and stays on a roster means some other guy doesn't. So, I have no particular emotional desire to see Calloway get a second or third chance over a guy who has done everything right and is trying to get his first chance.
