2019 Browns Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We are probably one more shitty offensive game from having to yank the playcalling from Freddie. The season could get away from us quickly if this doesn't turn around.

There were so many egregious calls that cost you a chance at a huge win tonight. Just outright awful decisions.

The 4th down draw. No back the final 4 plays. Go routes on 3rd down up against our own endzone. Failing to challenge the obvious PI to save us a down. Freddie should be absolutely crushed in every media session this week. This shitshow probably made even Hue blush.

I honestly hope Kitchen does what's best for the team and give up PC.

I have one play saved that I will diagram at length......I’ll wait until later in the week though. I don’t think anyone will be able to handle it right now.

I changed my mind and put the last sequence of plays in Baker's thread.......God speed everyone. I'm off to bed.

I'm glad they stayed in it with Rams, but...

That's a game you have to deliver on. The Rams are playing in a trap game and looking like shit, that's a golden opportunity to steal one against a superbowl contender.

wtf man
Posted this in the kitchens thread

Since the merger, teams that won the turnover battle 3-0 are 642-20. That’s a winning % of 97%.

This was a same old browns game if I ever saw one.

The 4th down play had 3 receivers within 3 yards of each other.

Baker running around like a chicken with his head cut off with no one pressuring him.

Fucking disaster. Way too much talent to let this team be this much of a disappointment

You lost by 7 to the defending NFC Champs with a coach that people hail as the heir apparent to Belichick.

This is not a statement of moral victory. You lost. Your QB is struggling with chemistry issues, you have no offensive line and the play calling cost us a win.

However? Your defense is clearly blossoming. You have pieces there. they've just yet to click.

You need to adjust. Find some better offensive schemes. You need Freddie to give up playcalling duties. You need to pick up a few O-linemen for better pass protection and you need to survive this TOUGH stretch that you're going through.

I'm not as much frustrated at the team but I am rather frustrated at the media who has simply decided to shit on them while they are going through some growing pains.

2014 Cavs say sup.

Why did we change the offense from the top-10 one (extrapolated) that finished last season?

Why do NFL coaches continually try to outsmart themselves??? 4th and 9 and we run a draw? Freddie has to have forgotten what down it was. L.A. has one of the fastest defenses in the league. Even if you catch them off guard, they are still fast enough to make the play.

Should have run the ball twice or at least the RPO we ran before.

Defense played heroically and our offense pissed down our legs.

And if you think our diva WR is just going to be a good soldier while we’re blowing games..........

The hard thing for me is I have no idea if Monken is part of the problem, or part of the solution. I don’t even know what he does or how he works with the offense. He doesn’t speak to the media often.

To some people, our offense would be better if Freddie gave up playcalling and let Monken call from the booth. To others, Monken’s plays and offensive philosophy (which he’s previously had success with) are the main problem in the first place.

Don’t know what the right move is.

So they should paint everything as being rainbows and sunshine? You literally just listed a shit ton things wrong with the team at the moment. So I’m not sure what the problem is.

Kitchens looks like the role, moment, responsibilities, etc. are just way too big for him.

The team lacks discipline and any sort of identity. Mayfield appears to not have a clear understanding of what's expected from this offense.

Jarvis Landry, cultural pillar, is good for a drop a game.

The offensive line hasn't been great, but it's been good enough for this team to win games. It's so fucking frustrating to see the biggest perceived weakness of this team not live up to the negative hype and they still look hapless offensively.

The Browns had 1st and goal inside the 5, all of their timeouts, and neither Beckham nor Chubb touched the ball in 4 downs. Are you serious?

Worst possible take.

Next.
Not today or tomorrow obviously, but if he doesn't get this right by end of next season, I'd bet money that those sweatshirts are going to wear out their welcome.

I’m not 100% sure what it is ether but I think we’re another loss away from needing to make a decision, for better or worse.

My gut tells me the problem is Freddie’s play calling. Ultimately, he makes the decision as to what play is run, in what situation and in what order.

Even if Moken is having some negative influence here, Freddie has things he can fall back on. If the argument is he doesn’t, that would be more a reflection on him (at least to me).

It’s possible both guys are good coaches but Freddie does not have a great feel for play sequencing with some of Monken’s concepts. That would be best case to me. That both guys are good and it’s merely a delegation of responsibility, for Monken to start executing the gameplan. Worst case is Freddie is not good......because I think that is the bleed a slow death scenario.

This is currently one of the worst offenses in the league when most of us believed they’d be one of the best. Browns are currently averaging 16.3 ppg, which puts them at 6th worse is the league.

Among the notable offensive powerhouses that rank higher than the Browns: Cinci, Jax, Washington, NYG, Arizona, Buffalo, etc. this is bad and there’s absolutely no excusing it.

22nd in total YPG
17th in PYG
25th in RYG

Through three games the offense has scored 5 tds and turned it over 5 times.

This team won’t win 7 or 8 games if the offense continues to play like this. They’ll be lucky to win five. We just saw what might end up being the Browns best defensive performance of the year and they lost.

Unless things rapidly change, we’re looking at 1-4 two weeks from now. Team is already beat up with some key injuries.

I’m not sure how a rookie head coach will be able to keep these personalities focused if the losses keep piling up. Your fooling yourself if you think there won’t be problems with OBJ, Baker, and Landry if this continues. These guys were coming into the season thinking they were making a deep playoff run.

Freddie’s going to get tuned out if this persists. That’s when things will start to really go downhill.

The offense has talent. The worrisome part is that we’re three games in and it appears the staff has absolutely no clue what to do with it.

Browns just lost a game where they gave up 20 points and won the TO battle 3-0. That’s almost unheard of in the modern NFL.

It’s absolutely insane the lack of innovation in our offense.

Every time I watch these other teams, including even the rams last night I’m seeing wide open guys getting the ball multiple times PER DRIVE, and yet when we play it seems like there is absolutely none of that going on.

Not sure why we aren’t incorporating more of the stuff that the Chiefs have been doing in the Twitter post above. A ton of misdirection, which actually helps your offensive line in pass pro.

I actually feel bad for Baker.
