2019 Browns Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes actually.

Playing the self-pity card is wearing thin.

"HOW COME WE CAN'T BE LIKE FRANCHISE X"

Because Franchise X doesn't constantly run people out of town.
So you blame the fans for wanting the franchise to be stable more than the franchise who refuses to be stable?

The fans of ____ team are ____ thing is naive.

I don’t mean that as an insult. Just pointing out that I’ve seen this over and over for years and it’s as if people don’t consider that it’s a reaction to a product.

Every single fanbase is made up of human beings that are doing something which makes absolutely zero sense. Cheering for a team of men to do something athletically that they have zero control over. They then respond emotionally to a sports team’s losses and victories based on the way human beings react to victories and losses. Which is either negatively or positively.

Once you have enough losses pile up, human beings are going to begin to lash out early and often. And they’re going to do it in large groups. They’re going to do it to the thing(s) that is/are causing them pain. The team, referees, front offices, etc etc. As they should. This is what people do.

Hating a “fan base“ for these things is like hating people for being afraid of sharks when their dogs and friends have been eaten by sharks.

Baker didn't take the challenge of raising the franchise up as seriously as he could have at times. His approach to the plays in the first handful of games matched that overconfidence - not taking the checkdown, not dumping the ball after the play failed to develop, there are plenty of detailed plays we have all processed and watched in slow motion.

The comment about shotgunning a beer was hyperbolic, but I'd say a symbol for how the big name members of the Browns approached the off-season and marketing themselves rather than respecting their own craft and preparation.

So if hyperbole is going to start internet fights, do I really have to go back and mention ALL the hyperbole that I've seen the past three hours?

So I'm stuck with finding the areas the team is improving from week one, because that is how a team turns around a bad start. If the plane starts to pull out of the tailspin while it drops a close game, that is worth examining.

Nailed it.

I'll be the first to admit, I didn't want Baker when we drafted him. But will be the first to also admit. I fell in love with him when I watched him play.

I like Baker. I'm still with him. But, I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed he didn't take the challenge serious enough to raise his game. I'm mad at him.

I'm mad because I know he has talent, and isn't taking it seriously enough.

I mean look at the QB in NE. Whether people like the guy, or not. He's won 6 rings. Is still playing 42, and still puts everything and then some to be the best he can, and win again. When he has nothing left to prove, but it still means that much to him.

I guess I wish Baker would take a page out of that book. Not settle for his clippings and media praise, and just sit on what happen last year. And actually take what he did last year, grow, and be better.

How can anyone not be disappointed in him? I still like the guy, and of course he's not being put in the greatest situation.

But he didn't take the off season serious enough to improve his game. I got a problem with that kind of mindset.

You want Baker to be the greatest QB of all time in his second year?

Ok bud.

1. This is a straw man argument since godfather never said that.

2. You are taking a balanced description of a player and turning it into a personal attack on a poster.

3. You are dying on a hill because you refuse to see any grey area, to the detriment of every thread you enter.

Consider this constructive feedback before this habit equates a break from posting. Thanks.

I would be ecstatic for a vanilla hire like Mike McCarthy at this point

I wouldn’t. I really don’t want him. He’s pretty bad.

Our last hope is McDaniels will take the job. I’d take him in a second. I know he did bad his first stint but he was too young and not ready.

I think he wants Baker to have the same approach to the game as Tom Brady, which is what we should all want.

You won’t find that in anyone other than Brady, Manning, LeBron, and MJ...

That’s a special type of person who literally lives and breathes football.

Its Bakers second year. And the microscope everyone has placed him under just isn’t fair at all.

Meanwhile as I type this Phillip Rivers, one of the leagues best QBs for the last decade + has 0 points against the Steelers on SNF at home.

the expectations are so out of hand for the kid.

The sad part is we don't need Baker to be great to win games right now. Just solid play where you take what the defense gives you and you don't sabotage the offense with critical mistakes and unnecessary gambles. If he does that, we are probably hitting the bye at 4-2 and looking golden given the state of the division and the 2nd half schedule.

It's not a referendum on his future, but Baker has been extremely disappointing thus far. There's talent around him. He doesn't need to be Tom Brady right now, but he can't keep up the Brandon Weeden impersonation.

is THAT what he said? really??? you read his comment and took away that he wants Baker to be the best QB of all time??? in his 2nd year?????

OK, bud.

I think with a good veteran coach this team is prepared for game 1 and probably beats the Titans. Baker would be playing better and their record is likely 4-2. As a fan base we don’t have time to wait on Freddie to figure it out. On paper this is the best team we’ve had since coming back and now coaching is going ruin this season.
