2019 Browns Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It just didn't feel like one of those games where the Steelers were flying around the ball and were terribly too good. They lost by a TD, yes? In very boring fashion. I'd be more willing to lend credence to "THE SHIRT COST US THE GAME" if we witnessed some sort of big moment/play. It was very...boring.

Kitchens is in over his head though. This isn't up for debate nor do I think anyone here would disagree.

Had this team been able to make adjustments at half, or had their secondary played worth a shit? This isn't even a conversation. We're shrugging our shoulders at it and trying to analyze playoff scenarios.

My thinking was (sadly) similiar. My theory was going along the lines of what we've seen with the Cavs which is..that a mediocre coach can still stumble onto success with the right amount of talent.

Turns out...no. And we've paid the price for it.

Should be a team contending for the AFC, not one that should be lucky to finish .500.

By no means am I blaming the shirt for the loss. I just believe it to be evidence for why the team plays and acts the way they do.

Its a symptom rather than a cause.

If the guy was promoting his own t-shirt company or his new improv group, yeah great. Free publicity. But he isn’t. He’s a coach and a leader of a large group of men, many of which he’d be forced to talk to for giving the Steelers “bulletin board material,” like that.

Like I said before...do we see Pop doing this? Belichick? Saban? I can’t think of a single instance of any of these guys doing anything like this.

Regardless, I really don’t like the team they’ve fielded this year. Myles has been one of my favorite athletes since he entered the league and he disappointed me. Just really disappointed in the whole group and they all became very unlikeable and unenjoyable to watch, including Baker.

I don't think Kitchens is serious.
The picture is whatever. What happened on the field was far worse. Yes, the Browns were down a lot of guys. One over some complete bullshit. The rest... house of cards coming down. Steelers are missing the playoffs, so IDC.

Browns are like the Eagles this year with way more of a cloud over them. There's a lot of WRONG that won't be fixed within in the bounds of this season.

I'm more into hating the game, not the player.

It...really sucks that we all were all told that "Hey. It's different. We're making the playoffs this year" by various prognosticates, etc.". Then we see this and it's really soul killing.

Then you know..we see the Ravens getting success due to having the one thing this team is lacking. A coach.

Just sort of done with it. Rather than just being something you can sit back and admire? It's a pissing contest.

agree with all

Feels like the team doesn’t play hard for Freddie. Can we just fast forward to the offseason, fire the coaching staff, address O-line, safety, linebacker and press the reset button. Is there any chance Freddie stays on as coach? Please tell me no!

You can talk about the offensive line all you want, but when you have Baker, Chubb, Kareem, OBJ and Jarvis, how is it still such a monumental task to put points on the board? They should have taken the playcalling from Freddie before the bye and tried to salvage the season. Instead, they let Freddie's stubbornness waste a season.

This year has angered me more than most since the return. I feel like you put these players in a different city with a different organization and they are 9-3 or 8-4. But, as always, we find the wrong coaches and carry on a culture of immaturity and unprofessionalism.

With all the hype and hope heading into the year, we are going to head in to the offseason questioning almost every single aspect of the team. Shame on us for expecting anything different.

Guys really need to stop forgetting this teams only problems are the coach and players.

Culture and organizational structure.

John Dorsey has been the Teflon man for too long. His offseason was absolutely miserable, his hiring of Freddie and constant allowing Freddie and the rest of the team act like kids with a substitute teacher.

He gets one more season.

OBJ was pitched non stop as being an elite top 3 NFL receiver backed by all kinds of metrics

and people keep saying how we aren’t using him enough

well he has 103 targets in 12 games. It’s not going to be a career high for him, but it’s still over 8/game

it’s not like we’re going full games without even targeting him. But he has gone full games without making an impact. He’s not caught a lot of passes that any elite top 3 WR should be routinely making whether they qualify as drops or not

After watching 12 games of OBJ as a Brown, top 3 my ass. And it’s not everybody’s fault but Beckham’s. He’s been no where near what should be expected of him

Need three new o linemen, two safeties, new HC, depth at d line, a lb or two possibly another wr. Other then that we are all set..... In all seriousness with only 7 picks, they are going to have to nail this draft.

The Lawrence and Avery decisions looming even larger after we got almost no heat on a rookie with a back up center.

Also, how have we not moved on from these returners? Stupid decision makers with zero playmaking ability. Always putting us in a hole on kickoffs.

Im sorry but I can’t sit here and say it’s Odell’s fault Freddie doesn’t know how to utilize him.

If crusty ass Eli Manning can get him the football, there’s something really wrong with how we’re incorporating him in the game plan.

What's with OBJ not getting targeted like a star though? Baker scared to force it? Freddie's playcalling? OBJ himself? I mean he caught his one pass late and looked towards the Browns sideline and was fired up. We honestly make him look so average out there.

Freddie doesn't understand how to use his personnel. He's got 2 top 5 running backs and will abandon the run in the second half of every game without fail unless we're up by double digits. Our offensive line woes have been beaten like a dead horse, but we actually run block fairly well and Chubb and Hunt both can do a lot with a little when need be. We have a lot of success with play action when we run well, because of said 2 top 5 running backs and teams having to respect them, but rather than utilize that strength we run a lot of shotgun plays with empty backfields instead. And our pass protection is a weakness, which is another head scratcher in regards to the empty backfields - those top 5 backs? Pretty good pass blockers and receivers out of the backfield, yet we rarely use them that way. Probably have the best slant runner in the NFL on our team, and when we run RPO's with a quick slant to OBJ it generally succeeds, yet how often do we see it? I get our tight ends have had some injuries, but Ricky Seals Jones and Stephen Carlson have looked pretty damn good when given reps, and the numbers say 2 tight ends is one of our stronger formations, so how often do we use it? And how often are we throwing to our worst receiving tight end in Harris rather than those 2? Yeah, there's a pretty obvious pattern here.

Don't even get me started on having Hilliard in the backfield on 3rd down in situations with the game on the line instead of Chubb. I've never wanted to stab a motherfucker in my life as much as I wanted to stab him for that.

It looks to me like Pittsburgh wasn't really that motivated to win this game. Some how, we came out and looked even less so. That's on Freddie and his staff 100%

Baker and OBJ are like water and oil.

Baker wants to get the ball out of his hands as fast as he can and Beckham is a finesse receiver.

I don’t see any chemistry.
