It just didn't feel like one of those games where the Steelers were flying around the ball and were terribly too good. They lost by a TD, yes? In very boring fashion. I'd be more willing to lend credence to "THE SHIRT COST US THE GAME" if we witnessed some sort of big moment/play. It was very...boring.
Kitchens is in over his head though. This isn't up for debate nor do I think anyone here would disagree.
Had this team been able to make adjustments at half, or had their secondary played worth a shit? This isn't even a conversation. We're shrugging our shoulders at it and trying to analyze playoff scenarios.
My thinking was (sadly) similiar. My theory was going along the lines of what we've seen with the Cavs which is..that a mediocre coach can still stumble onto success with the right amount of talent.
Turns out...no. And we've paid the price for it.
Should be a team contending for the AFC, not one that should be lucky to finish .500.
By no means am I blaming the shirt for the loss. I just believe it to be evidence for why the team plays and acts the way they do.
Its a symptom rather than a cause.
If the guy was promoting his own t-shirt company or his new improv group, yeah great. Free publicity. But he isn’t. He’s a coach and a leader of a large group of men, many of which he’d be forced to talk to for giving the Steelers “bulletin board material,” like that.
Like I said before...do we see Pop doing this? Belichick? Saban? I can’t think of a single instance of any of these guys doing anything like this.
Regardless, I really don’t like the team they’ve fielded this year. Myles has been one of my favorite athletes since he entered the league and he disappointed me. Just really disappointed in the whole group and they all became very unlikeable and unenjoyable to watch, including Baker.
