2019 Browns Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We are 0-2 against 3rd string QBs.........haha

Results reflect leadership.

Baker and OBJ are like water and oil.

Baker wants to get the ball out of his hands as fast as he can and Beckham is a finesse receiver.

I don’t see any chemistry.

Tom Brady wants to get the ball out of his fast every single play and yet Randy Moss had the greatest single receiver season of all time playing with him.

Think again. It’s on coaching and time spent playing together

For me it is not so much a rant, but just disappointment. The Steelers were as vulnerable as they will probably ever be and the Browns fell flat yesterday. The Browns will likely fire Kitchens and they should. But, that will just mean another staff with another system that will want their own guys. It doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.

He's just a shitty coach, period. Definitely in over his competency level. Now does the t-shirt mean anything one way or another, I doubt it but it could be a part of the puzzle that goes to the make-up of a shitty HC who is in over his head. If Freddie was an actual good HC then the t-shirt would quickly become irrelevant other than the "he gets us" bullshit, which I don't subscribe to either. Just fucking coach well enough to win games, and Freddie has repeatedly failed at that primary directive.

This Franchise has picked duds at QB (until now, right??) and HC since forever. Why can't they get it right yet?

Is Kitchens getting too much of the blame out of the gate much like Baker did? Was the 2nd half of last season an aberration? Was the canned supporting staff the reason for that success?

Hire the right guy and it won't matter.

Matt Lafluer is 9-3. Him being a new staff / new coach hasn't mattered.....because they actually know what they are doing.

It is always a disaster if you hire incompetent people.....wether it is a second year of Freddie or some other guy who isn't any good.

uber driver on my way to watch the game was listening to "this american life".
i found the episode:

"Ralph and Sandra Fisher, who run a show-animal business in Texas, had a beloved Brahman bull named Chance. Chance was the gentlest bull they'd ever seen, more like a pet dog than a bull. They loved him, kids loved him...."

the bull died. in 1999 they had the bull cloned

"Second Chance was born. And he was, eerily, just like Chance. Except he wasn't. Which they found out the hard way"

the new bull gored the owner.

i found the parallels to browns fandom profound

Broken record but the whole "following an NFL team/NFL" is exhausting in the 2010s or so.

This is not even a rant as directed as much at the Browns as it is directed at the "game".

I saw a guy that was cheerleading on twitter about how much of a Browns fan he was for 2 seasons or so. He now has dropped that and became a Ravens fan.

I don't know what has happened to that league but it used to be rather fun to follow and it felt much less about "hot takes" in things like pre-games, etc. Things were more focused on strategy and the individuals involve.

Feels like it caters towards the lowest common denominator at this point.

This is not to insult anyone here. Example? I disagree with AZ_ quite a bit, but I can see he does research and is rather enthralled with it.

And yes, The Browns continued failure/mediocrity is perhaps a part of it. 20 years of this stuff for me and like there's...zero payoff. I feel empathy for fans of franchises like the Bills and Lions, but there's really not many people in the company of the shawshank tunnel of shit IMO.

It is fucking weird though to see people live vicariously through a football team's sucess as that equating to their own personal success. I've...yet to understand that. It's a phenomena I've noticed from steelers fans for example.

They were suppose to switch Baltimore and Buffalo when the Browns were reborn in 99 and never did. The browns Steelers rivalry became Ravens Steelers , just one example of how “ sometimes you can’t recreate the past”

The Dawg Pound is still trying to recreate itself 20 years later too. Yes winning takes care of these things but this has pretty much felt like an expansion team minus a few random seasons for 20 years . Plus you sat out three years, and had the lame duck season where the team was moving and the stadium became an ugly place to be at ( for those of us old enough to remember going to a game that year . That is just a long long time to invest as a fan without any rewards. Team has not seen a playoff game since January of 2003, and the city has not seen a home playoff game since the Internet was created ( it was literally a different world back then )
If you were too young to catch the mid to late 80s I don’t know how you have that emotional link to this team. I started watching in 85 and that Bernie era created the passion for this franchise, without that experience I don’t know how I would still have the emotional connection. It is getting harder and harder as the years go by . I have reached the point where I don’t think I can get excited about drafts anymore, prospects or a new coaching search . I need to see a playoff team at some point soon to justify the time commitment at this stage in my life. Will always be a fan but investing half a day each Sunday in the fall and winter seems more like a chore then passion for many of us. Maybe I would feel different if I was still living in Ne Ohio who knows , but after that glimpse of hope last year , this season has probably been just as or even more of a downer as any of the past years .

should have flipped Indy to the central and then put Baltimore in the east. Then kept it that way for the forseeable future. Sure Peyton would have kicked our ass but whatever.

I detest the Baltimore-Pittsburgh rivalry. It's an abomination and I hate everyone on both sides. It's like trying to get me to choose between Germany and the Soviet Union in the 40s. Both options suck.

It's...whatever. The lone thing I can cite is my dad taking me to training camps, listening to the game on the radio like a religious duty and then going to few good games with friends. None of them are that memorable because they've yet to lead to anything "Oh man I was there when Trent Dilfer threw TD's to Braylon Edwards against the Dolphins" doesn't hold the same as someone going "Man. I was there when they locked up the division. Crowd was electric!"

Can at least tell you memories like the above for the Indianapolis 500, Tribe, Cavs and...believe it or not? Kent State Football.

Hello, Darkness my old friend.

I didn’t see the game due to traveling.

I assume this is the right thread.
