But everyone is going to still care about him.

Shades of Stephen A talking about Hunter Henry playing in a game when he had been on IR for months

Breaking: These guys are all clueless

Some are more clueless than others, I think the big issue is we expect to much out of media covering all sports

They cover multiple sports, each sport having 30+ teams, they cover individual sports like tennis, golf, etc...and we expect them to know as much about every team as we do about the teams we follow.

They are sports fans with general knowledge, once we realize they don't know more than us unless they are breaking a story, we will accept them for the mere talking heads they are.

I don't know, there's an outline to the show. No reason these professionals can't do a little background research, and have some bullet points prepared. I might not even watch football, but I could put together a few coherent statements on the Seattle Seahawks and their personnel just by doing a quick google search.

But they wouldn't know a teams past roster or where every football player went to school which is what they were making fun of in this case.

Sure you could put things together, but you don't have intimate knowledge per say of the OSU past players each and everyone. Correct the guy and if he apologizes, move on. We make mountains out of mole hills allot of time when it comes to media.

And at the end of the day, their real job is to sell advertising, so click bait and all that other bullshit is their job, not something to complain about.

My only thing is these guys are paid to talk sports. If you know urban is coming on and you're gonna talk about joe burrow (or any other player, team, etc) you would think they or an intern would do a quick google search for talking points.

Any chance he was being sarcastic and the joke was missed?

I know what you are saying, and i didnt listen nor do i care enough to listen, but i still think you are expecting a bit too much. They do some research, but between being on air, traveling allot and having to watch a ton of sports and speak to a ton of people behind the scenes to try and get scoops or keep up, they dont have as much time as you think. There are 110+ Division 1 schools, i get OSU is one of the top football schools, but what about a guy like me that gets pissed if he doesnt know Purdue enough like Rondale More or any of our other 3 freshman 4/5 star wideouts?

I mean you act like they dont interview people on a dally basis, its tough.

I mean.. when you google joe burrow, one of the first things on page 1 says he went to OSU. Same thing like someone pointed out about Steven A. He goes on air to talk about a team he did 0 research on. And if they did interview a Purdue coach, player, fan or whatever, I would hope they do some sort of research.

I dont watch espn or fox or any sport shows, but this isn't like a random fan or person asked him a question he didnt know. He knows who is going on his shows and he still doesn't know about them.

But you're having Urban Meyer on, and he had clearly researched Burrow's stats. How do you not have background knowledge on both?

Colin Cowherd is a fucking idiot. He has such a hard on for Baker and the Browns it is not even funny.

He's a millionaire whose made a living getting folks to listen to his bad takes and hate him passionately.

You have to ask yourself who the idiot is in that equation.

In general, I would agree with you Lee. However, I actually watched the clip and Cowherd (or his people) knew that Burrow went to high school in Ohio because he actually mentioned it. His exact question to Urban was, “how did you let that guy get out of Ohio?”

Urban was cool and explained that he did have Joe for 3 years but that Joe left as a graduate transfer after he lost a very close QB battle to Haskins.

Unlike a lot of people I don’t mind Colin. I know what he is and what his purpose is. He job is to get viewers by any means necessary. The last few days, he’s really been ramping attacks up on the Browns’ organization. It’s not just Baker and OBJ anymore and that’s probably because both guys quit responding to him and he knows getting Browns fans riled up leads to better ratings due to the fan bases size and passion. I think the issue though, is these talking heads talk so much stuff simply to be contradictory and obviously don’t believe what they say so aren’t really paying attention to a lot of things.

Reactions: Lee
Again, they either don't know what they are talking about and/or are trolling.

They, being, the sports talk/debate show participants. It's idiots arguing for the sake of arguing.

I'll never for the life of me understand why anyone cares what they have to say. When I was younger I'd care about what the media had to say, but that was before all these gag debate shows. Now I don't care at all...it's just a cesspool of nonsense. It's even fake much of the time. I don't need Skip Bayless or Stephen A or Cowherd or any of these other clowns to help me form an opinion. I'm more than capable of doing that on my own.

Beyond College Football media bias, which influences the playoff field, I don't care one iota what anyone in sports media has to say about anything. I'll never for the life of me understand why anyone does care what they have to say.
