2019 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is this guy good? I don't know anything about him.
Columbus native (father played at OSU) who coached with Ryan Day at Boston College. He’s one of Michigan’s best recruiters and was the point man in their pursuit of Zach Harrison. Their strong relationship was a big reason why Harrison looked like a done deal to Michigan for a while. He’d be a strong hire.

Extremely unpopular opinion: I’d keep Schiano over Grinch. Either way, there needs to be one main voice leading the defense. Recruiting in a huge component, however, and Grinch’s best get was Bryson Shaw. Not exactly awe-inspiring.

Sounds like Grinch to OU is a done deal.

Doesn't sound like that automatically means Schiano is back next year. Will be interesting to follow the next few days.

Sounds like the biggest "fish" out there is Pete Golding, co-defensive coordinator at Bama. He's young at 34, and seen as a rising star in CFB. Also known for his recruiting prowess.

Purely speculation on my part, but if you paired Golding with Day it'd be the most modern coaching staff in America.

Gricnh has been at OSU for 1 year, and OSU was surrounded by coaching uncertainty. I don't think one year in that context is fair to judge him.

I will say his work with the safeties was dog shit this year, although I could say the same thing about Coombs early in his OSU tenure,

Matt House, DC from Kentucky is being rumored.

That'd be an interesting hire.

I think my biggest beef with Schiano has been the consistent stubbornness to mix up coverages. The nice thing about Kentucky when you watch them play, are the exotic blitzes they bring (especially from linebackers and safeties), and how they mix between man and zone.

I guess my biggest concern would be the scheme shift away from 95% man coverage, mostly press although we started working in off-coverage mid-way through the season.

Assuming the guys could pick up the scheme relatively quickly, I love the idea of guys like Baron Browning, Malik Harrison, and Brendon White coming on disguised blitzes. Sitting here at this moment, why OSU ever let their defense become so predictable is astounding. Not sure if it was a machismo thing where they just wanted to say "hey, try and beat us". But giving away your defensive gameplan every week probably wasn't the wisest strategy.

Not sure if this really happened but supposedly Fields tweeted or Facebooked Tate this, " I'll see you in class my dude." LOL

Anyone know if Fields is gonna be eligible right away?
