2019 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brian Hartline may could be considered one of the best recruiters in the country. The wide receiver class he’s putting together is incredible.
I'm told one of the key reasons he's so good is that he leverages his friendship with Cris Carter and Joey Galloway. Those are a couple of nice guys to have on speed dial when you need to put a little extra "oomph" behind your recruitment of a particular player.

Guy had a very respectable NFL career and nobody would say he was elite athletically. He was all technique and effort.

To have an opportunity to play for a former NFL receiver who was a technician, still young and able to relate to the kids he’s recruiting, and exudes confidence (Hartline is pretty brash although he’s laid low publicly since taking job).....he’s been a HR.

Current #1 ranked recruiter by 247. I hope the Buckeyes are able to keep him around a while before new opportunities start landing at his door.

In other news, Tate Martell has been working at WR at Miami and might not even be in the mix for the backup QB spot.

Reminds me of Gunner Kiel. Not even sure Martell will ever start for a year though...

Martell said that Ohio State was upfront with him and basically told him it was in his best interest to transfer. He said he thought about sticking it out. I thought he should have gone through the spring before he transfered because the one advantage he did have was knowing the system.

It took Day till today to name Fields the starter so I really think Martell's chance of starting was actually higher at OSU than Miami. I'm not sure how high those chances were but he at least had a leg up on knowing the playbook and system over Fields. Maybe that could have been enough for him to give Fields some sort of competition.

Nah......Day was rolling with Fields the moment he transferred.

I don;t fault Martell one bit for transferring and believe Day actually encouraged it. He didn;t want the drama.

It's unfortunate Martell chose Miami though. They have a new OC that values WR route trees, QB's that make progressions, and essentially an offense we've seen from Bama the last 2 years.

Martell had best friends land in South Beach this off-season and I think it clouded his judgement. Their are OC's all over the country that could utilize his skill-set. He chose a system that won't cater to his skills at all. Tate can move......he's a very gifted runner. You look at an OC like Kendall Briles who literally moved a WR in D-Eriq King to QB, and made him one of th emost efficient and explosive QB's in the country last year.

Tate just completely botched his transfer decision. I know he's loving the scenery and social life in Miami, but career-wise he shot himself in the foot.

I agree with all of this. I do think another school might have been in Martell's better interested.

I was more saying Ohio State would have been a better situation than Miami for him at the end of the day. I think Day was all about Fields from the day he transfered but I'm not sure Martell wouldn't have made Day question himself alittle thru out the spring and off-season. Martell's grasp off the offense over Fields might have give Fields some actually competition.

Maybe Day decides that he would have been willing to have a QB competition just so he had a better backup than he currently has, especially if he knew that Baldwin was leaving.

Somehow this team is kind of flying under the radar at the moment - and I love it.

That win over Cincinnati won't get the national attention it deserves, but that was an incredibly impressive all around game from the Buckeyes. Cincy went 11-2 last year and handled UCLA in Week 1. Frankly, they should have been a ranked team.

Fields looks legit. The WRs look great again. The defense looks vastly improved. And Dobbins had his best game since his Freshman year. Man was it nice to see him break out some long runs, even flashed some breakaway speed that we really hadn't seen before.

The schedule gets brutal in a couple weeks, but this team is looking really, really good.

i really like how Brendan White’s being utilized; also interesting that the light seems to have come on for Malik Harrison. Biggest concerned was bringing over the UM defensive staff members but thus far it’s encouraging. IU will be a good test.

Hope to see Fields start taking some shots downfield, but the offense has been very opportunistic

It feels dirty to me seeing greg mattison wearing scarlet and gray. I liked the hire, just not tsun.

He has our defense making open field tackles for the first time in three years. I have no complaints.

So... Urban is going to coach again soon...
"I'm not there at the moment," Meyer said. "Like you said, next year can I say that? We'll talk again next year and we'll see."

He’d have it made at USC. He can run the PAC-12 and cali will have plenty of local talent for him even though he can bring them in from anywhere.

Tennessee? I’d be absolutely shocked if he took that job.

Wish him the best; but this is wildly unsurprising. At this point I’m confident him moving on was best for all parties.
