It's not 'keeping things in house' to criticize one of your coaches to the media- and whether he intended it or not, that's exactly what he did. He should have used a cliche answer to kill the line pf questioning, moved on, and addressed the issue with Monken afterward.

Kitchens likes to keep things in house, so maybe a bit overboard with what Monken said, but at the same time, he is being consistent with it as well.

I think it could also be about not making excuses for the penalties and trying to get the team to play more discipline. Players and teams can find excuses for ever penalty and it takes away their focus.

What I had seen reported is more of a feeling out period for how they integrate concepts, less than a Hue vs. Haley main event of Wrestlemania problem. Freddie and Stump have a system, but they want to bring more Air Raid into what they already have... and that leads to uncertainty as they figure it out.
