2019 Cleveland Browns Regular Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This.

Our win over Baltimore looks like the outlier. Outside of that game, we've gotten blown out twice, twice lost to west coast teams traveling East, and beaten a team with 2 backup QBs playing.

Right, would we be favored in more than 3 or 4 of our remaining games?

This! We don’t know how to win right now. I know the upcoming schedule looks pretty weak, but this team hasn’t shown me anything that would lead me to believe we are capable of winning 7 or 8 of our remaining games.

I can easily see them dropping a game they shouldn’t - Arizona/Denver. I also don’t think there is anyway we beat Pittsburgh on the road.

At this moment in time, IMO, these would be the lines:

x1 clear underdog : @NE

x4 favorites : PIT, MIA, CIN, @CIN

x3 Slight underdog: @DEN, @PIT, @ARZ

x2 Even: BUF, BAL

Here's the thing, you can say that the Browns have played like shit while also recognizing they have a top 10 team in talent.

We haven't seen it click that much, but it's always possible that playing teams with just a lower quality of talent will allow the Browns to simply overwhelm some of these teams (in particular, teams like Miami, Denver, and Cincy are not in the same galaxy).

If they cut down on penalties and turnovers, they will be firmly in the race till the end, IMO.

Cutting down on penalties and turnovers seems like about as Herculean a task as you can get, though...

Denver shouldn't be included in that set IMO, especially since it's on the road...

It really, really is not that hard. Baker stops playing like a shithead and they are fine.

Denver is one of the least talented teams in the NFL. If the Browns don't win that game, it would be extremely disappointing.

Nice. It also would seem to be the time when guys put on IR at the start of the season would become eligible to start practicing. Usually, those guys go through a 2-week evaluation window in practice before being able to play. I'd assume we hear something about Drew Forbes (for sure) & possibly Kalis pretty soon.

Baltimore was the one game we just generally played well.

Maybe you call that an outlier, or maybe you call it getting out of your own way.

A lot of our problems have been self inflicted, that is the only reason I am more optimistic.

This week will tell us a lot IMO. We got extended rest / prep. We go on the road to play a better team but one that will be on short rest.

If we aren't really competitive in this game, I think that will be the ominous sign that we are just flushing this campaign.

If the they come out and play well, even in a loss and some obvious things get cleaned up, then I think you can be more bullish on the team talent as the schedule eases.

I don't have a ton of confidence at this point but I'm willing to see what happens on Sunday, given the dynamics at play.

With the loss of Njoku, the addition of Hunt doesn't just become a luxury, but instead a critical incoming piece who will be on the field often. Who knows how often Freddie planned on running the 21 personnel with two running backs and one tight end, however at this point Hunt and Chubb combined puts far more pressure on the defense than Seals Jones and Harris with a back. Hunt is right with Chubb among the elite runners after contact, but just as importantly he is a weapon in pass receiving and pass protection.

For all the ruinous prognosticators, there is reason to be hopeful.

For the first time since 2007, the Browns actually have a lot of talent.

So, yeah, they could go 6-2 to finish the season. All they have to do is play up to the level they are capable of.

This isn't a David and Goliath story of a scrappy team trying to beat opponents out of their league. This Goliath vs. himself.

I mean, Ravens did barely beat Cincinatti by 6 as well as Cardinals by 6, and only by 3 in OT against the Steelers.

They still play

New England
Texans
49ers
Rams
Bills
as well as Cincy again, Steelers, and us.
