2019 Cleveland Browns Regular Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Browns waived DE Chris Smith.
Inked to a three-year, $14 million contact in '18, Smith totaled just 17 tackles over 25 appearances as a reserve with the Browns. Chad Thomas' breakout in place of Myles Garrett (suspension) and Olivier Vernon (knee) has been impactful, but the team still has major depth issues in their defensive trenches. Perhaps more reasons for Smith's release leak out down the road. Still only 27, it would not be shocking to see him land on his feet with a playoff contender prepping to play beyond December.

Wish him all the best. Absolutely brutal, tragic year for him and his family.

Word on the street (ok, OBR) is there was an offensive tweet last night, which now appears to be deleted.

Any back story? It was NSFW apparently...

Another Dorsey addition that just hasn't panned out at all.

Seahawks have had continuity at the HC position. Shanahan was allowed two losing seasons to get to this point. Buffalo plays in an awful division this year where games against Miami and the Jets are gimmes.

None of those three named situations are anything remotely like what's happening in Cleveland.

Incorrect. You've proven my point.

Seattle has a good coach. That is why they are winning with less.

Shanahan's teams showed improvement and a spark of genius over those two years, even when Jimmy G got hurt. It is likely they make the playoffs last year if Jimmy isn't hurt.

Buffalo, gimme games aside, have schemed to maximize their meager talent on offense which is better than the Browns' despite -2 Pro Bowl Running Backs, -2 Pro Bowl Wide Receivers.

There is a common thread here: Teams winning with less, fewer high draft picks, thanks to coaching.

Why did David Njoku not play on Sunday?

Shame on the Browns, with their season effectively over, leaving this guy out of work after what he's had to go through.

Even if there was a Tweet. Short of a racist tirade, what could he have possibly said?

WTF?

Is this team trying to be hated by both fans and opponents alike? Sure, they'll sign woman beaters, addicts and give Antonio Callaway a couple years of chances after numerous criminal offenses.

Weeks after the Garrett incident they really feel it is ok to cut the guy whose fucking life was destroyed in a tragic way? Great optics!

There have been numerous articles lambasting the Browns for this. Sure, help everyone find another reason to fucking hate us.

The Cleveland Browns have signed DT Justin Zimmer to the active roster from the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad. To make room on the roster, the team waived DE Chris Smith. Additionally, the team released S A.J. Howard from the practice squad and signed DE Trevon Young to the practice squad.
Zimmer (6-3, 300) is a second-year player out of Ferris State and was a member of the Falcons’ practice squad during the first 13 weeks of the 2019 season. He was originally signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and has been with the Falcons since 2018. Zimmer spent part of 2017 with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League after being waived by the New Orleans Saints during final roster cuts. He’s a native of Greenville, Mich. and will wear No. 99.
