2019 Cleveland Browns Training Camp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If the writer had stuck with that premise throughout the entire article about how Browns fans were gonna be peeing their pants about playing .500 football, all the while deifying their Larry the Cable Guy-ass rookie head coach, their beer can eating super hero fratboy of a QB and weirdo diva of a star WR, I think you can make some decent punchlines around that. But, as with most roasts, they end up being too focused on trying to "cut deep" and make people go "Oooooooh" instead of, oh I don't know, "haha".

This is quite a tangent we're on in this thread, so I'll just say that to the extent there was a good joke to be made, the entire article went on way too long. Something like that could have been funny in a relatively small dose, but the article went on for far too long, and basically O.D'd.

You know me with your dad jokes. They have to be top line not to get neg/angry.

The Dr Dre/Ice Cube joke was top line, I kept it NWA. I almost slipped in an Easy E pun too.

In the latest Building the Browns, he was basically laughing at Takitaki for having to study the playbook more so he can make the calls as the QB of the defense. That implies to me that Wilson has a lot of work to do mentally before he's ready to take Joe's spot.
That's not at all how I interpreted it.

Mack Wilson has experience doing this already. He says that he did it at Alabama. He was saying that Taki is struggling with learning everything associated with playing Mike and that he knows what he's going through.

Jim Nantz has been around the game for a long time and he said he's bought in to Cleveland big time. He has pull in the production meetings and he wants Browns games. He gets the opening week at 1pm when he's usually a 4:25 announcer.

Probably nothing to some people, but I respect his opinion enough to get even more excited.

Nantz has some Cleveland connections too, so I wouldnt put it past him to want to be the one on this bandwagon.

Jim Nantz probably strolled into a meeting and said something like:

“Hello friends. I’d like to call the Browns opener. Don’t like it? Fuck you. We’ll be right back.”

There was a lot of chatter about whether having a practice like this was a good idea given the possibility of injuries, but I really like the idea of having these guys actually getting some real hitting in. It's been far too long since we've won an opening day game, and half-assing it isn't the way to stop that.

I think that's particularly important with a young team that is getting a lot of positive hype. You don't want them to start believing that crap is just going to be handed to them, and a more physical, demanding camp is a good way to keep everyone's head screwed on right.
