2019 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Utah love is the most confusing to me.

They played a terrible non-conference schedule. Have zero wins over a top 25 team, and pretty bad loss to a pretty bad USC team.

Be honest, which of these do you have a problem with?
0 and 2.

Ohio State is the best team in the country by every metric alive, and by the eyes. The SOS is better than LSUs. LSU beat Bama? Cute, I don't care. Ohio State is better.
You already touched on the 2 loss teams.

This is setting up for LSU to play a trash Pac 12 team while we have to play a talent-loaded Clemson team thats been resting the whole season. It's bullshit. If anybody should get to stomp the Pac 12, it's us.

With that said, I'm still not convinced the Pac 12 makes it over Bama.

[subject change]

Honestly, if LSU loses a tight game to Georgia, they should not fall lower than 3.

In that scenario, it SHOULD be:

1) OSU
2) Georgia
3) LSU
4) Clemson

They're still 21st in SOS, which isn't bad, but not great.

Oregon is 10th.
Oklahoma is 31st.
Baylor is 45th.

The loss to USC sucks, but it was still only by one score on the road.

I think the main thing we're seeing this year is that there are not a lot of great teams or great resumes.

LSU and OSU are the cream of the crop. Clemson, Baylor, and Minnesota are undefeated, but have junk schedules.

I can find a major flaw with every single team outside of us and LSU right now.

I'm ok with rewarding Oregon for scheduling a real team in the non-con.

Utah didnt. And then they dropped a bad game. I don't agree with keeping them over an undefeated power 5 team.

Let alone 2.

Yeah, I get what you mean. You can see in my rankings on the last page, I had Minnesota fifth. Baylor 10th.

Baylor isn't good and will likely lose the next two weeks. I think their record is the fluke of all flukes.

I guess I thought the same thing about Minnesota.

With Baylor, you've got a team that actually has beaten some alright teams already in Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

I just wanna see what the committee will do if they win next week. In my mind, there's no way you can keep them out of the top 4 if that happens. And that's a HUGE jump, but I can't see how they can justify not making it.

And btw that just sorta ends all the debate about the 4th team. If Baylor runs the table they're it. Doesn't matter what Alabama or anyone does.

Which would kinda suck for LSU if they lose a tight one to Georgia, but such is life.

If they knock off Oklahoma, I'd definitely have them in the top-6 at least.

Going to assume LSU, OSU, and Clemson all win their games. There's your top-3.

Georgia and Auburn play a massive game this weekend.
Minnesota has to go on the road and play ranked Iowa.
Baylor and Oklahoma both also square off. Those are your big matchups.

I'll say Auburn wins next week for sake of discussion, along with Minnesota beating Iowa and Baylor beating Oklahoma. The odds of all that happening are next to zero, but anyways:

1. LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Minnesota
5. Baylor

That would be my rankings after that, with the two 1-loss PAC schools, Alabama, and Penn State making up the next four in whatever order you want.

If Minnesota beats #20 Iowa this week..they will be in the B1G championship barring an upset by 1-8 Northwestern.

I could absolutely see LSU losing to UGA; UGA isn’t exciting offensively but they run the ball very well and still have an excellent defense. LSU doesn’t have a particularly impressive defense. I have to think UGA does everything it can to give Burrow minimal at-bats.

I’m with Rich; if — albeit a massive if — Baylor beats OU leaving them out of the top 4 would essentially be indefensible. I could see why they’d be turned off by the TCU and West Virginia games though; they haven’t been super impressive lately. But they’re still getting it done.

I’ve also accepted Clemson isn’t losing; I thought Wake might have a slight chance but they’ve fallen off a cliff starting with the loss to Louisville.

Ultimately I think OU goes in there and mops the floor with Baylor so I think that discussion is ultimately moot. I get Baylor has been playing some defense and shit but they dont score enough for me to think they can keep pace for an entire game. Thought the same with KSU though so.

I really hope Fleck doesn’t allow that locker room to become overly confident. Iowa — while boring as all hell — is at home and they’re well-coached/sound. Gotta keep your focus there.

And of course Baylor is left out of the top 10 and for whatever reason is behind 2-loss Auburn

I don’t hate that. I think on a neutral field Auburn is favored.

If Baylor wins this week and doesn’t jump a bunch of people, then it’s a slight.

Sooo heres a fun one.

Baylor goes undefeated and beats Oklahoma twice and LSU loses to 1 loss Georgia.

Now what? Do you leave LSU out? Or...Clemson...

Michigan hype is startin' up again.

Btw when does the "Lincoln Riley Is the 2nd Coming" wear off a little?
